Congradulations to all the bands selected for the Honda Battle of the Bands for 2009, I know everyone will represent for there Conference well. It feels to good to know that HBCU bands are finally getting more financial support this year, and its well deserved. But there is one oberservation with the SWAC conference. Where's the PVU Marching Storm? For a band that provides one of the best Show Style Halftime performances of the HBCU Bands, featuring highly skilled n creative drum features that captures the audience year after year, a great quality sound, and high powered show from beggining to end; there's no way this band should have been left out of the Battle. NO DISRESPECT to TSU or JSU, because they are fine marching bands, and I have much respect for those programs and every other HBCU Band program. But WHEN IT COMES TO FIELD SHOW ROUTINES The Marching Storm out classes any band in the SWAC. The only reason why I beleive this band wasn't chosen , was because earlier this year they under Investigation for hazin. Other that reason and that reason alone there's no way the Marching Storm should not be competing.

  • No the reason why we are not going is because we got invited to the Presidential InAuguration Parade........
  • There is no guarantee as to who will get selected year in, year out at Honda. Being that they only pick 2 bands, sometimes they'll pick someone you like, sometimes they won't.
  • thanks for that info....when are yall scheduled to leave for that?

  • It's not that big of a deal anymore really. PVU has left their mark on the event. It's time to let some of the other SWAC bands shine. This conference is too diverse and talented to keep it hidden from that boisterous Atlanta crowd of bandheads. Independents? MEAC? Come'on people, they have to have something to look forward to! Besides, I've performed in three consecutive Hondas and spectated at one. After the second Honda or so, spectating doesn't seem all that bad. lol. But thats just my opinion.
