Honda Battle of the Bands 2014 is over. All the videos and clips are up for the most part and many more are to come, but overall for how were the performances to you all for those who were there in person and those who are relying on YouTube? lol

I was there in person and I enjoyed the bands, the audience’s participation, the wave, and the host.
AAMU: I graduated from A&M and usually give them hell for lackluster shows; however, their HBOB show was good. I like the Outkast theme and the length of the dance routine. Usually their shows are too short.
ASU: I have not been impressed with the MMH over the past few years. Their show was boring and the honeybees saved the show once again. I was surrounded by ASU fans and they only cheered for the honeybees and the hornet shape with the red line of flags.
BCU: I used to be impressed with them, but that has changed lately. Another big band with boring shows. Even 14 karat was boring. I did like the cursive spelling of Atlanta and take me to the king.
Morehouse: They had a good sound for a small band. The saxophone solo was a good touch. The trumpet solo could have been axed because it was not good.
NCAT: The school caught my attention over the summer of 2013. I started looking at their videos and fell in love with their theme shows. I like how they mix up different styles and give a story with every show. Their sound was great in the dome.
SCSU: A band with the talent to do better. Their show was all over the place with the children choir, the neon outfits, and the song selection. The “we ran this shi-/show” was well thought out. They had everyone looking to see if they would spell it out. Lol
UABP: The little drum major stole the show. Overall, they were good and had a decent sound. Sadly, I cannot remember a lot about their performance. That’s not to say that they were not good.
WSSU: Was that a concert or a halftime performance? Never do that again unless that singer can stay in key.
Got their a little late but the show was great. Love Alabama State University Marching Hornets performance! I can see why the Stingettes & Honey Beez dancers were chosen to appear on national shows and videos this past year! Represent their conference very well. Makes me definitely put the Magic City Classic on my calendar in the future!

Ranking:
1) NCAT: That was something to watch from beginning to end. I really enjoyed how they were able to capture the audience attention with every little detail and transformation. I like some of the selection of the music and their sound. Their dancers (GD) were outstanding from flags, twirlers, dancers, etc. that was something to see alone then they changed uniforms every 5 min. Then you thought that was it. Ha they showed the audience that HBCU don't have to be one dimensional with Show style that we can switch it up with Corps style also. Very good from beginning to end.
(I do want to go on records to say that AAMU has transferred from corps style to showstyle also)
2) AAMU: "Smaller band with a big punch" I was so shocked at what I say a 360 change from the season. I really enjoyed the OUTKAST theme and how they stayed with the them throughout the show. I was really pleased with the sound at the beginning because during the season I was not quite sure how this would go. However, now I am a believer. lol. The drill, transformation, and longevity of the show was really a breath of fresh air. Something new YES! DANCING DIVAS!!!!!!!!!! FABOULOUS FLAGS!!!!!!!!!!! like they were on point! They were all some good looking ladies I really must say. Concert mode that was like the icing on the cake. Prototype-Outkast the MMW sounded beautiful very nice to the arranger. The dance band was good also. One of few that actually did the Nae Nae...lol are we "Done or Naw!" the Announcers that AAMU had was off the chain also. You can really tell they had that ATL swag. GOOD JOB!
3) UAPB / ASU
BOTH showed up and showed out!
I will give slight edge to UAPB because they are showed that HBCU unity that we all need. lol
UAPB: Even though we have seen a mini mee drum major routine done several times it never gets old. The crowd loved it. The energy was their and you guys got the crowd amped. The drill was really nice and transformations was good. The Dancers were great...like my goodness bootay bootay! I like the end when they gave each band a shout out with the song "We are One" FBM ...VERY NICE!!! Crowd loved it so did I.
BAMA STATE: Nice logo shout out. Another surprise from another SWAC school. They actually drilled and sounded good. Transformations was good saw a few errors but still not much noticeable to the general public. Dancers (stingetts) They were good actually was on one accord and on point. Concert: Really sounded good. really captured the audience attention showing the variations of sound by getting low and not being so forcefully loud all the time. GOOD SHOW!
5) BCU: Typical BCU show sounded really good, great transformation, and drill. 14 kt dance girls was good. I just don't remember much. Seemed they played it really safe and stayed in the box. I have always been a fan of them. I really want to say GOOD SHOW...I mean I didn't see one hairline out of place, but then again its BCU. Still GOOD SAFE SHOW!
6) SCSU: Very good at the beginning...had to be the longest show of the night. It was all over the place. Not to say it wasn't good but I expected more. This was probably a prime example why bands should have used themes. Dance girls: That was different. Flag line was horrific! The band show was good but then it ran into the Nelson Mandela stick figure, with the children singing, then the MLK tribute. I was like this was way to drawn out. like we know you are the finally but don't bore us. Don't get me the tributes was good. HOWEVER, at some point you just got to think of the audience. OVERALL IT WAS OKAY.
7) MOREHOUSE: They were good. A couple of drill problems and step off issues. I saw a couple of horn facing issues that took away from their sound and pitch issues. Dance girls (MNM) NOW THEY WERE GOOD. I like the dance band routine.
8) WSSU: Umm that was funny. Again the singing guy group killed it. (not in a good way either) Theme: I like the Old School theme. That was nice. Concert: Great sound could have been a little more balanced. Overall...still good.
OVERALL HONDA! THIS WAS PROBABLY THE BEST HONDA IN YEARS! GOOD SELECTION OF BANDS! ALL 8 SOUNDED GOOD. EVERYONE CAME TO PLAY THIS YEAR! CONGRATULATION TO NCAT ON BEING SELECTED AS THE FAN FAVORITE THROUGH TEXTING. I AGREE WITH THE FANS SELECTIONS!
Aamu, who said you have to large in number to force to be reckoned with!? Great sound and shows from both Bama schools.
