man the memories! hope worthing is still holding up to the expectations set... that battle was classic that night keavon! i have the dvd's... man if the buses would have just let us stay longer it would have gone until midnight!!! lolllll ... those were some good times. i bet you don't remember how the rivalry started between worthing and austin? i want to say it started that year at pv homecoming parade when we battled for a while i believe that was 08'... lol... good times... if you host a spring semester smackdown keep me in mind, i would like to bring down my group doc... but can't do anything until after our concert UIL... trying to shock folks out here in austin!!! we are of course the under-dogs but you know that won't last for long with a little passion, discipline, hard work, and dedication!
Yeah maybe ill host a middleweight Smackdown for y'all.
lol that game was epic, plus you guys were getting ready to go to california that same year lol... but like i said once we finish up with uil concert band in march we will begin getting ready for the fall because i'll have more kids returning and have to get the 6th graders ready...

SOOOO.....what happened at this event??? Was it canceled???
No. It was great lol. All the bands did really good, and the competiton exceeded its original end time, because of Worthing and Austin's battle of course. Willowridge is regaining their title. Westbury did their thing as usual.

Special thanks to the bands that came out to this event. I know the holiday round was a different twist but it was fun.
Willowridge- You guys did an awesome job. Good sound, nice intensity. I knew you guys were coming but it didnt really hit us until we heard the cadence outside of our bandhall and opened the door to the practice lot and there you were. lol Oh yeah shout out to the trombone player who checked me for tryna go through her rank. :-)
Westbury- definately the cleanest and most disciplined group there. Great sound. That majorette was killing everybody. Shes like a One Woman Gang.
Worthing- came in there with an attitude and a lot to prove. You guys really brought it. Auxilaries were really tryna bring it to Austin.
Austin- good job as usual. I know this is one of those transitional years for us but we gotta keep it going. LOL when the band scattered and half turned to Worthing, other half turned to Willowridge and started blowing. Even I was confused.
I also have to reocgnize Milby Marching Thunder. They had a good reason to not participate but still came and supported a rival school. Thank you guys.
Representatives from TSU and PV were there to meet, greet and recruit. Overall a fun night.
You know, I wondered that myself, but honestly that's what I like about Westbury!!! They don't get caught up in all the hoopla!!! I like that and the fact that they ALWAYS play REAL music!!!! Something that is lost with most high school bands, and college bands nowadays!!! I think they just have a different mentality and it seems to work for them. I think they have fun being different from everybody else...JMO
