How important is your band to your school? For some of our institutions, the marching band is the school's cash cow. For others they are just a regular recreation. To many, your school would have never received recognition because of the marching band. So with further of due just respond about your band's importance.

We are loved and hated by many in our school...Most same we are intolerent and the program should be completely shutdown. Most say we have brought another positive program to the community that keeps kids from trouble and we keep striving for the best.
so its kind of 50/50 here. We are wanted by the community, but we are wanted to be discared by the school board......which is most of the problems in the nation
Yeah I hate how many public education school boards try to rid away music. Music is a part of life and a huge part within our society. Without the music, what is there for our children to sink their imagination with? No one shall live an off rhythm life especially where music is correlates through the majority of academics today.
At my school, the marching band is not only a cash crop but something that give many students pride for when other programs tend to falter. The band also represents the school's discipline and morality instilled through my founder, Dr. Mary McLeod-Bethune, and other objectives the school was built on. So despite the raucous that occurs every now and then on campus, the band amends all the troubles through technical play and straight to the point performances.

Sometimes (and i do mean a very small amount of times) they hate us during school but outside of the school if anyone talks bad or even slightly down about us; they are quick to remind them that we're the best high school band in South Florida and possibly Florida. Our school has received plenty of recognition for the band.
We got hit hard with scholarship cuts too. Along with the band budget being cut by the board of trustees. That's part of the reason why we didn't travel last season.

i was SO CLOSE to going to scsu got accepted auditioned for mr. reid and everything but as soon as i saw the tuition and fees and one of your earlier posts saying they were cutting scholarships i changed my mind and ended up with albany

My high schools band was hated like crazy up untill my senior year then everyone started loving us and cared for the band and now with the new band director i see them getting alot more love the next few years
