Okay here's the deal, my freshman and sophomore year in the band i played trumpet, but this year in my junior year i had to switch to baritone cause it was only one person in the section, the section leader and she's a senior. So obviously i would be section leader next year in my senior year but the problem is that she's really good on baritone. She can play really loud with a clear and solid tone. In need to be able to have this so i can properly lead the section and keep the section blowing. Any suggestions on how to make myself louder without sacrificing tone? At the moment time is not an option and any help is appreciated.

Well, even though time isn't an option for you, time(experience) is a big part. Your section leader is really good because she's a senior. That means that she probably have about four years of EXPERIENCE. The only thing that will make you better is to PRACTICE A LOT. Practice the right stuff. Don't over work your-self. Keep in mind that you are a Trumpet player, so it will take some adjusting. Think about it, how long did it take you to play at the level you are playing at on trumpet? The baritone isn't easier.
Thing is i've been playing trumpet sense the 6th grade, baritone once in the 7th grade. I picked up baritone seriously in the 10th grade in concert band, which is one of the reasons my director switched me since he knew i played baritone last year in the concert band. Like is there anything specific to make me louder, cause it always seems i hit my limit on both trumpet and baritone. also i still play trumpet in the jazz band.
