. he's lucky he didnt get hit with the horn.. thats usualy the case. when ur n a parade u keep moving .. he didnt purposely try to break rank. he was just standing out like a dummy .lol
when i was at kennedy we almost whopped a dude for running thru our band he was on mtv.. doing a stunt and was as about to get hazed
It depends on timing and how serious the offense is bruh. Nothing's in black and white. Marching bands are paramilitary organizations which means they have some tendencies of a military unit, but may not adhere to that code to a tee because we are musicians as well. Now when you're in a parade in N.O. (which is where this is), please believe the crowd wants to hear the music, so that is TOP PRIORITY...not trying to make an example where the message is common knowledge. If anywhere they know about band protocol... it's down there. That spectator had NO INTENTION of breaking the ranks. Old buddy just wasn't paying attention... and as you saw, the Police kindly escorted him to an acceptable position. You are only to enforce ranks when there is no enforcement around 'cause you will get arrested if you just wail on somebody standing on the street lol. My man did the right thing and just kept it moving.
NOW, if old dude felt the need to try and cross through the whole band (tried to cross the street) then he would've gotten steamrolled. There's no need to hit someone unless it is self-defense...
im sayin it waz a pep-rally at da skool.and sumbody let sumbody cut thru.da whole band waz pissed at da guy dat let it slide.we waz ready 2 blow onda foo dat let him cut,and u kno wat his explanation waz,"he waz gonna hit me"cus da dude waz supposedly a "thug" so we waz like bruh we a band fam we da biggest gang in dis skoo.lol
Well speaking for Greenville Weston, we taught that only the Band director/drum major can break through and in that band it depends on what section you actually cut through, now the tbone section would break yo neck, even if yu was from anotha section in da band, but we did not allow it, another band tried to break our rank, and we thought that was so disrespectful but we stopped them and made them go around..
any Mardi Gras i do...someone always tries to break rank between bass drums and my saxophone section....or they'll try to put beads on my neck...hit one poor fella in his stomach then bass drummer accidently macked him in the head with the mallet...i know he had a bad night lol
You do have to keep the ranks tight, or you'll lose somebody. If someone gets through, most of the time it's not their fault. It's on the person/squad that's not paying attention.
Now, there are those @$$holes that have to be dealt with, but a thick crowd is a thick crowd. Keep pushing the band forward, swinging horns, and spreading out. They'll get the message...lol...
