  • Exercise...aerobics, core training, n weight training!!! Does wonders for breath control...dat n dont b half stepn wheneva u pik up dat horn. The trumpet instructor at NSU (The famed Dr. T. Zachery) is a big fan of P90X.
  • for me, repetition of simple exercises made it happen...
  • cardio. jog a few laps around the track everyday, breathe through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • as a trumpet player... i can DEFINITELY say none of those things really help.... i know some FAT ASS trumpet players that cant run ONE lap that has AMAZING trumpet abilities and stamina.  The thing that will help the most is CONSTANTLY playing. When you are tired DO NOT REMOVE THE HORN FROM YOUR MOUTH..... KEEP PUSHING.... and when you are done, WARM DOWN REALLY WELL....
  • Just so we're clear...consistently playin ur horn is an aerobic execise...low to moderate intensity but aerobic non the less. Brass playing is all bout air and air control...anything that helps in that area will increase ur stamina n wind playing abilities. N no, u dont hav to b Hercules to b phonomenal on ur horn but it does require some form of good breath intake and control.
