I just find it hard to accept a person who labels themselves as a ''bandhead'' that doesn't appreciate ALL forms of musicianship.

 

 

What also shocks me is those so-called bandheads that live in or close to cities that have dci competitions and don't go. But the same ones will take off 5 days of work and walk to ATL for the Honda.

 

 

If your feet are hurting now, its probably your toes I'm stepping on. Broaden your horizons people...

    umm.. DCI competitions aren't exactly for the people but for the judges!! that's the biggest difference in that. The music is great and all but nothing you can't hear elsewhere still..

     

    I gladly go and enjoy UT or Rice shows with that being said.

    He's preaching to a mass of lazy thinkers and former mediocre musicians. SOME aren't lazy thinkkers and mediocre musicians but most ARE. It shows when they talk about another band's history with false information, make digs at arrangements with nothing to back it up theoretically, rant and rave about some PWC band playing Neck...when it's an adapted Epeval Taylor arrangement(I said it, give the man his props), claim MEAC superiority(of what? Acronyms?) And get cliquish over Honda...which is for families.
    If he likes DCI so much..he should continue to give them free advertisement. If he loves what we do so much, he should start an endowment....and have that dollar ready and time to spend with young up and coming musicians who have grown past the 12 ionian scales. Until then...all that sh@t is hot air....like when Frosty Nacho marched for JSU and the fireworks was blowin...

    The 5Q members arent taking aim at this site they're just taking aim at the name of being called a Bandhead.   

     

    The term Bandhead originated from Non-Band members who've associated our band related habits with Crack-Head-like tendencies.  WE ARE ADDICTED TO BAND AND WILL NOT LET IT GO! (lol) .

     

    We've  EARNED that Title because were the ones as kids marching to the beat of/ imitatiing bands.. Listening to "Put down the Duckie" and wanting to be like Hoots  (lol)...Hanging outside somebodys bandroom ....In Math Class,beating on Books, Humming tunes, Buzzing on Mouthpieces, Studying our music 24/7 and even cutting class to sit in bandroom and play our horns.  This is the nature of the up and coming band head..

     

    True Bandheads Love ALL FORMS of BAND.. We show up to Anything with a band playing... We also understand the concepts of our craft, and respect other styles or forms,..Those who don't Know, ARE HERE TO LEARN as well as to be ENTERTAINED. 

    We Talk About Band ALL DAY & NIGHT on forums like This one and 5Q, we've been on these sites for over 10 years..All for the Love of MUSIC and BAND.... We would not be bandheads if we didn't take part those things

     

    IMO if you're A Member of  orgs like KKPsi TBS, PMA  SAI.. You're a CERTIFIED BANDHEAD  ..and if you Don't Claim to be one..you should Renounce your Membership to those orgs.

     

    There's no need to downplay the term Bandhead... ...I've been called a BAND NERD as an INSULT by people who did not like My group of friends.. Being Called a Bandhead by people was like a term of Recognition on how Serious We are about Band..    

     

     

    Aside from that.. SMH  at the DCI comment
