JSU was named Marching Band of the Year at the annual HBCU Awards and HBCU digest. Here is the link to the article and to other HBCU awards given out this past Friday.

Congratulations to the "BOOM". The Boom, SU JukeBox and BCC are my favorite bands and either could have been "HBCU Marching Band of the Year, however, those HBCU Digest awards and nominees are picked by popularity and not validity. Example, last year Alcorn won "HBCU of the Year" which is centered around community service, national media recognition, diversity & research and I know Howard, NCAT and JSU are the only 3 schools that are Research Intensive Nationally.
Paul Quinn College who lost their accreditation was named HBCU of the year in 2011, which is proof that these HBCU digest awards aren't held in high esteem.
Congrats to the Sonic Boom of the South!!!
congrats to them but what exactly is this based on?? not to say that they didn't deserve it but this can be heavily argued
Congrats Boom!
iono but SU got it last year and FAMU had it the year b4

Most be one of those "spread the wealth", "lets not try to give it to the same band TWICE" type of situations. lol
By "DEFAULT" if you will...because the best 2 have gotten it already. hehe

im just trying to see how they got that conclusion....and are these "band people" that make this list? maybe if i saw some reasons as to how they came up with this then i'd be alright.....FAMU in 2010?? that can be more argued than this one....IM NOT TRYING TO THROW DIRT ON ANY BAND!! i just wanna know the basis for this ranking
