Mr. Kimber (MLK) sees jamboree as a big gimmick, kind of like SU and the Honda. and i do believe Clarkston is on the come up, along with TUcker and Columbia
Springtime for DeKalb band programs is consumed by concert, symphonic, ensembles, and festival preparation. Not much time for much else. That's why Jamboree takes place at the very end of the school year.
As far as stepping up to the out of town bands, Redan had a lot more to prove going up against Miller Grove instead of an out-of-town band, and vice versa. Outside of those two, no one else would've even been competition for OPW or LLI.
I believe Arabia will be the next band to climb its way to the "upper tier" in DeKalb.
And my personal opinion is that Kimber has been scared of Jamboree ever since SWD gangraped them with no vaseline in 2005. Every Jambo appearance they've made post-2005 has been completely different than their pre-2005 ones.
I agree with just about everything you wrote except for two things. First, I don't see Arabia as the next top tier band. Tucker was sooooo much better, IMO. Second, Mr. Kimber is not scared. Mr. Kimber hates bs. I'll leave it at that.
Our(Stephenson) Bd said last year when whitehaven tried battling in the parking lot that its only to see who got the biggest book, who can blow they horn the loudest, and was just a waist of time because they weren't on our level

Exactly!!! So y didnt anyone step to the out of towners? Jambo got n the way of the point...OP OBVIOUSLY came here to prove sumtn....nobody stepped to da challenge. So dey OWNED dat stadium n kept it movn.
Also, I dont unserstand y u can only get at the program u r assigned...its called Jamboree for gudness sake?! I mean...cme on son? Giv the people sumtn to talk about. Get that exposure for ur kids n get that experience as a capable battle band. Thats the heart of the culture. U can still b tasteful n battle.
