Actually this song in NOT called Coming to America...It is from the movie Coming to America, but was played when King Joffe Joffeur (sp) made his entrance into Queens....on the soundtrack, there is a song called Coming to America that is a totally different tune.....We played this in 1988 and then called is JJ's for short in reference to the character, had it written days after seeing it at the theater....people who knew our program would ask us to play that "coming to america" song...Its amazing to see how its stil around and has caught on with so many bands....No one's entitled to the song other than the movie, but I can say that I wish bands seeked to be the original with things....Where are the trend setters these days?
