...I understand that BAND DIRECTORS usually try to have their BAND (at that time) have their own distinct sound...now thats fine and dandy...Why do people talk about back in the days with bands as if the people who were their when they sounded good marched good or just great overall are still their marching their 15 consecutive year in the band not doing anything with their life...people please realize that folk come to college to graduate and of course as the years and seasons go by of course the bands sound is going to change and not sound in 2009 what they sounded like in 2005 TO YOU anymore it takes time and education not only on the bands playing styles but its history its customs and the bands traditions overall so of course no band is ever really gonna sound the same because technically its not the same....not the same drum majors not the same drum section not the same brass or woodwind section ......maybe its just me.....

Well i kinda disagree...if you have strong traditions and continue it along with staff...you can look back and say 2009 sounds like 1999 or 2005 or 1985....i..e.. SU and FAMU
well when you have grown ups (30 and 40yrs old) still nagging, bragging, crying, and arguing over band that just means that band life was the highlight of their life. Meaning after college life began to suck for them and they want to relive college band years. You can still have pride and not act the way some of the old heads act. They be 35 and still trying to beat 18 yr old crabs down. smh Some people never grow up. They mean good but they do it the wrong way. lol I always wonder why they're never on the band staff? They know everything but they not on the staff at their school. Why is that? They just run they mouth and nothing changes.
