I smell that "bag man"...
Wooow..that is a mjor difference! I have always known that Cleo Fields is nothing but a man with hidden agendas. Honestly the band director at LLI now is not as good as director from the past directors. It seems to me that Fields done whatever he could to just get a band. My prediction..most of the kids in LLI will eventually move over to SOD. Numbers attract numbers and also they are just going to get tired of the pointless emptiness Im sure they will feel at leadership. Once they have what they (Cleo and his staff) are looking for. People will start getting played to left It always happen. Oh and that goes for directors also. IF Tiller doesnt improve with that band he has and end up loosing students, Cleo will get rid of him. Thats just how it is over there. I am not trying to bash anyone. I am able to voice my opinion. And sad to say but I can really trully tell that Leadership has lost it. If they continue with the outcomes they are getting they will end up having the rep like that of GSU or worst.
Band directors talking smash need to stop.
where was LLI between 06 and 11? where were the Seasoned Musicians? Remember you have folks in LLI for 3 and 4 years .. Quitting their own HS bands to be in LLI during Trent Johnson's years. It's a different era folks ..
Bump LLIs band... Lets talk about the organization as a whole. LLI no longer serves many of the citizens of baton Rouge. After all the program was created to help them, right? Just look at LLIs board. Its filled with the "bag mans" crooked politician and legal buddies. Lots of money is funneled through this program and used for other things. How about Cleo work to improve the schools in EBR Parish and stop funneling funds through LLI? I went to the BOTBs at Glen Oaks and Istrouma and the campuses are just pitiful.
LLI is already under fire about its questionable money handling. I mean, who couldve guessed that? Its just Cleo in the captains chair... Whats to worry?
A few notable things, I can actually see that LLI has wasted tax money on.
* Prevost Coach - Prevost is like the Mercedes of motor coaches. Why does LLI need a $350k Prevost??? Hell, they would be better off chartering busses vs purchasing them anyways. However, if they really needed a coach, they could purchased an MCi or Van Hool. They are extremely reliable... Most coach companies like Calco, CoachUSA and Greyhound use MCI, not Prevost.
* Semi - Why the hell does LLI need a semi-truck??? You already have a bus with plenty of underfloor storage. LLI doesn't have a pit... They arent traveling every week. A Penske rental will suffice.
* Where are all the scholarships at? Not knocking SU, but you dont need to sweat in LLI to get your foot in the door.
If I ever see Cleo again, I will tell him once more that I would NEVER vote for him and ask for the books from LLI. There are millions earmarked for LLI at the capitol. Where is it all going?
