  • back in the day, to about 2007-2008 JIM HILL was NOT to be F'd with.

Fairley was THE monster of Memphis back in the early decade too.

glad to see my first HS and fairley make a strong comeback.

    • I know I know growing up I always use to enjoy going to the Natchez Jim Hill game just for the bands.
  • in the video of jim hill marching in at the mlk botb. I was there with lli and i must say that they did have a nice sound and power...but the event was like over when they arrived lol...but atleast they showed. Sucks that they couldnt really be apart of it because their bus had issues, but i kno that having them get in the mix with the rest of us there would have made it even better than it was. Props to Jim Hill.

    • i was wondering why there was only ONE clip of Jim Hill. smh

They making strides to get back to the days of old. They'll be THE powerhouse of JPS again real soon.

  • I enjoy Jim Hill's field show style. Bell Front(from the BOTB clip i saw at Jackson State) Strong brass sound balenced with the percussion section. Not only is this next season promisable for that area...I see Louisiana, Houston and Dallas coming back as well...being from Houston i see progession at each performance. Though some bands come up and some go down..and some pop right off the map. I really hope to see bands that were monsters when i crabbed in 06 make a come back...One of them already has and i see a bright future for Beaumont Central!! as for Hightower, Austin, Ozen, Memorial, Worthing, Westbury, Jeff Davis, Milby, and my own school. Royal...they will be up there soon. Worthing already is. I'll be able to see these bands alot more in the fall since i'll be graduated and attending Univeristy of Houston.  Cant wait for Houston to take back over!
    • aww UH :/ lol

for real though.. I can hear them practicing from where I stay at.. monster trumpet players over there..

      • I went to UH from 07-08....

trombones and trumpets run that band. LoL. Mellos sounded nice too.

        Tubas....... *thumbs down*

        • yeah, their tubas are not like what I'm used to hearing lol. be a big change..still deciding if I should even march. I really would like to just build on my musicianship through classical and jazz music.  I've just taught my self by ear Coltrane's Giant Steps(well the melody at least) the rest is just what is in my head lol.  and trumpets are absolute monsters...think some of these SWAC bands screaming lol...I'll come back and post Willowridge vs UoH @ MLK 09 parade and you'll see what we both know lol...this is for others.
          • yeh man...they trumpets just go crazy with them high notes. First time i heard it in person i was like :-O

            lol

            • no disrespect towards our trumpets because our style has us cover them and for their size they are pushing a lot but hearing UofH trumpets from halfway across our campus lets you know that they can play full too
