THIS OFFER IS OPEN TO ANY MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL THAT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 BANDS HAVE CONFIRMED TO THIS DATE.In honor and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and in response to the city’s need to increase cultural diversity amongst our youth, St. Augustine High School would like to extend an invitation to your school, organization, and/or group, to participate in the 1st ever MLK Multicultural Awareness March.The purpose of this event is to exhibit the various talents of our city’s youth and to promote knowledge and unity amongst the diverse ethnicities found throughout the city of New Orleans. It is the intent of St. Augustine High School, to show honor and tribute to all past and present leaders and dignitaries of our diverse city. It will pay homage to the struggles and perseverance which was eminent throughout the Civil Rights era, which paved the way for equal opportunities in education.The MLK Multicultural Awareness March will follow a historic route starting on A.P. Tureaud Avenue passing through the 7th ward and the legendary Treme area. The March will end at the renowned Congo Square, culminating with a song of choice in which all participants will perform in unison.In an attempt to foster racial harmony throughout our city, St. Augustine High School will offer your school the opportunity to show our community the continuing progress towards racial solidarity amongst schools of the New Orleans metro area. By allowing your students to participate in this event, we will be one step closer towards showcasing a lifelong effort to promote multicultural awareness, acceptance, change, peace and unity for all.The parade will start at 9 AM on Saturday January 16, 2010.   • Warren Easton, 35, Clark, Behrman Middle, Wright, Peter Claver dance squad, Karr, and Brother Martin have confirmed this event. St. Augustine is hosting. Any other schools that would like to participate must do so by Friday Evening.
