With all these teams leaving this conference and going to the next its kind of hard to see the matchups you want to see but if you could put together a mega conference who would be in it ?
You must have one from each hbcu conferences and one independent.
Mines would have 16 bands
FAMU
SU
AAMU
ASU(bama st)
TNSU
TXSU
BCC
NCAT
CAU
SCSU
JSU
TXSU
UAPB
VSU
NSU
PVU

2 things wrong with what you said:
1. FAMU, and the MEAC and SWAC are all D-1 schools, they are just classified as FCS in football. Every other sport those schools are D-1.
2. There is no way in the world that FAMU would dare try to move to FBS again after that failed attempt a few years ago. FAMU needs to focus on becoming a competitive team in FCS before trying to act "almighty" again.
TXSU would have to get a second look, they would bring in the Houston market, and they have a new stadium coming.
I don't see what is so big about joining a horrible FBS conference like the Sun Belt or the WAC and getting the brakes beat off of you for years. Do you really think FAMU fans are going to come out in droves to see you lose to Florida Atlantic, UL-Lafayette, and North Texas?
In Florida, the pecking order in football is:
1. University of Florida
2. Florida State University
3. University of Miami
4. University of South Florida
5. University of Central Florida
6. Florida Atlantic University
7. Florida International University
You FAMU people always get me. You can't even dominate the MEAC and are talking about moving up to FBS again. The past is the past, those days are long gone. Please tell me what conference would FAMU join, the Sun Belt? Also, for your school to be attractive, your other sports have to be good too? How has FAMU faired in Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Gymnastics, Swimming and Diving, etc.?
You mentioned UCF is growing, but how realistic is it to expect FAMU to grow substantially when you already have a MAJOR college not across town, but right next door to you? Not to mention the state flagship just a few hours away. UCF is large not because of their move to FBS, but because they are in a major city, Orlando. Take a look at Appalachain State, James Madison, Texas State, those schools are larger than a lot of FBS, and they are all still FCS. Even North Texas has more students than half of the SEC and Big 12, but how successful has their program been after 10+ years in the FBS? For every Boise State there is a North Texas, for every USF there is a Western Kentucky. The schools that have been successful are usually located in areas where they can dominate the support and have a ton of recruiting success(Boise State, USF(tampa area), UCONN). List any situation where you have 2 successful major programs at public universities right around the corner from each other in a small city?
We don't need a mega conference, just give us Tennessee State and Tuskegee and make the SWAC a 12-team conference. We don't need the MEAC to make our conference good. This way the SWAC could re-align the divisions like this:
East:
Jackson State (Southern)
Tennessee State (UAPB)
Tuskegee (PVAMU)
Alabama State (Texas Southern)
Miss. Valley State (Alcorn State)
Alabama A&M (Grambling)
West:
Southern (Jackson State)
Grambling (Alabama A&M)
Prairie View A&M (Tuskegee)
Texas Southern (Alabama State)
Alcorn State (Valley)
UAPB (Tennessee State)
That way each school will have a permanent rival( ) from the opposite division that they will play every season, and the other 2 non-division opponents will be rotated every 2 years.

With a schedule and conference like this you can't take a week off. Bigger games would be played at nuetral sites with a battle of the band scheduled for the previous night.
