Musics Writability

Is the music of this day and age just doomed to lose all depth and be degraded to just simple beats and base? It seems so and to all those out there that write music you know what Im talking about. Agree? Disagree? Post your opinions.

  • No Asa, it's not doomed to lose it...its alredy gone, man.
The continuous loops of Hip-Hop caused the musicality of the genre to disappear long ago.
With every year that passes, the body of work from Motown, Stax, Philly Intl. and the coastal independents becomes that much more precious.
That makes it vitally important for you youngins, to play like angels and read everything on the page, including the fly!
  • i dont think the music is DOOMED....as a writer its alot of songs that can be written...this era just causes arrangers to think outside the box on the songs they choose to write......but at the same time..popular music can still be written...all artist dont do the just rap an beats thing.....just listen to this past season on all the songs that were"popular" that the bands played...to name a few...(please excuse my hands, got money, who hotter than me, i put on, even dat baby dont look like me)
  • it's a lot of new music with substance to it. you just have to look Beneath the surface. the song on the radio aint always the one to play.. Its always the songs somewhere deep in the album that become band hits prior to being Radio hits

For Example "Together Again" by janet Jackson was NOT a radio song before the bands played it ..
