First and foremost I will say that I think all squads overall did a great job, however some killed it and really werq'd owt!!! My list is in alphabetical order by school names, not by rank.
1. AAMU Divas - ate. It was different for them and much more energetic than usual (I saw a little of the 2005 squad up in them). I enjoyed the routine from beginning to end. Nice technique and the girls looked like they were having fun with this routine. Finally the band played something with a little speed to it, so the girls could work out. The uniforms were a nice touch although it was a catalog order (Ooh LaLa has this same selection and Champagne has the same version in white, and I'll say the red looks better). Great job ladies.
2. ASU DD4L and GGs-
DD4L - great job and great energy. I liked the routine and the energy. I'll venture to say that they're style seems to be taking after the golden girls in recent years vs the j-settes like in the past. Very energetic with big movements. My only gripe, is make sure big moves don't come off as sloppy. Keep up the great work. Exciting routine.
Golden Girls - I enjoyed the routine, and they had energy and appeared to be cleaner than usual. The routine was awesome. I will say I missed the cat throwing and thrusting because that's what made me fall in love with them. I had my stirrups ready and I was in the position to receive my full gynecological exam versus filling out the receptionist paperwork. I loved the uniforms.
3. BCU - 14K - yes gawd!!! They gave me everything I wanted and gave me a old school 14K vibe. Energy through the roof for the entire 20 seconds of kat busting glory!!! Gave everyone in the dome a pap smear free of charge. The older white lady that was sitting beside me was thoroughly pleased as she pulled her life alert tag for medical assistance.
4. JSU - J-settes - need I even give a overview??? They ate from top to bottom. Uniform was on point and it had that good sequins too. They snatched that lady's french roll that was behind me clean off, and it flew right into my nachos, and I wasn't even mad, because that routine was working me over!!! CLEAN, ENERGY, FORMATIONS all on fleek.
5. Lincoln University - Orange Crush (Krush Groove) - they actually weren't bad at all. They did very well. Their routine was cute and their uniform was cute as well. They've improved from the last time I saw them. Keep up the hard work ladies.
6. PVAMU - Black Foxes (all 6345 of them) - I can tell the ladies really had fun with this routine. It was a mix of old school and new school fox. They had tons of energy throughout the routine and their technique was nice as well. I'm enjoying the evolution of these ladies.
7. SCSU - Champagne - the bands champagne glass was a cute concept. The routine started out ok, but it fizzled towards the middle. Much more energy was needed, not nearly enough was given. I was also confused as to why the routine ended a good 30 seconds before the band finished the song. Some of the ladies looked confused on some parts. I can somewhat see what they were going for, but it just didn't transpire for me.
8. TnSU - Sophisticated Ladies - I liked their combo routine, it was cute. The uniforms were unique to an extent. I can tell they had fun with this routine. They've come a long way since the white/silver stockings and mushroom hair styles of the 70s. Evolution from the 60s has done them wonders. Keep up the good work ladies.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was confused about champagne. Even the elderly white lady "Betty Sue" that was sitting beside me was puzzled at their early exit.
My top squads for the evening were 14K, Divas, J-settes and Black Foxes in no particular order.
Honorable mention to Golden Girls (looking forward to see what they bring next season and who the new captain will be. People keep saying it'll be between Caleda and Cat, however I the tail might shock us and sneak the captain spot. She's been very consistent throughout all of her seasons).

I wish they could've had a stand battle

1. Jsettes
2-3 is a toss up between Sophisticated Ladies , GG's ,14k and Krush Groove.
Jesttes took number one for me. They just came out and did what they needed to do. They didn't over or under do it or try to hard. Their energy was consistent and moves were on point the entire routine until that ending . However that ending didn't take away from the overall show. Really good job. I also liked the history lesson before the entered the field. Great way to cap of a stressful season. Kudos to the captain!
SL looked good. That ending was ? but overall the energy and routine were great.
KG was plesant surprise. They came prepared and did an amazing job. Conveyed their theme well and were great. I really don't think a lot of people are giving them the credit they deserved.
GG's are look fab. I just love have they have settled back into their style, polished up and gotten so clean. Excellent job.
14k was 14k. No more, no less. Not sure why the young lady had on a different uniform for this particular performance. I thought she was going to do something that made her stand out and called for it but I guess not.
Dancing Dolls did an amazing job! I wish Crystianna would have been there she would have killed with her team! Gotta work on them formations new girls.
Champagne.....im so lost. ITs a shame to have the technique and the smaller numbers they have and not slay. They make me so mad because I know we have given them hell but we all truly want them to win and they keep giving us half assess...sigh.
Divas, good energy. Didn't care for the uniforms. Overall good routine. I think the tempo was handled well overall but I also think it tripped them up in sections. I think had it been flawless which yes I know no one was that I may have actually had them clear second. I enjoyed them though.
Foxes...the beginning with the hats and such was pointless. Believe it through them off for the main performance but they weren't bad.
Being extremely honest, Golden Delight was sorely missed!
No squad was flawless out there. I think just about everyone needed to work on fixing their formations/lines, or moves at some point. There was only squad I could have done without but I digress.
Overall everyone did a good job.
I agree with everything you stated!! I have a question, were the J settes ending supposed to be a full ripple?? Just wondering... Oh!! And did anyone else catch that J the Settes danced into? And YES I loved everything about Orange Crush!!

that "J" was everything. Very creative with such a small group of ladies. They keep raising the bar

The ending was a ripple. Watch again and listen to the music as they drop.
