    Congrads to those band that made it that far in the competition. They have worked really Hard I believe.....Im just waiting for more info and results

    It was an ok event. We (Townview) came in 2nd behind Stephenson. My personal observation is THEY have to do a better job at judging. It is defiantly a MEAC driven event. If you have a SWAC style or anything that resembles SWAC you won't do well in this event. Good job to everyone. To Townview great job to my kids we worked hard and did a GREAT job, sometime the judges just prefer something else. But Great JOB!!!

    I wouldn't really say that. If that was the case y'all wouldn't even be in the top 5 or 10 bands list. Give them a break its not like all the winners or top 5 bands are of Meac style. Not many good representations of the swac style participate at nationals.

    So... Meac land ATL dissagree with a panel of Meac Judges.... *rolls eyes* Don't blame them maybe when the only thing people have to do is ask to judge the event. I mean damn. The event is in atl and no one would volenteer to judge? People get over it. From what I know.

    Lithonia won best danceline, Warren County best drumline with Townview coming in second and SHS third, everyone knows how good drumlines up here is so that isn't a suprise the judges are diverse enough..

    I don't know about the whole Meac vs Swac argument, but i do think that being a mixture of corp style and traditional style gives bands an advantage.....Which i think takes away from the whole point of the competition. Even last year when Redan and Whitehaven were both in the top 3, It seemed as if alot of the hybrid corp/traditional style bands scored extremely high in comparison to the straight up traditional style bands. With that being said, it's been like that since the competition started, so all participating bands should be aware of that by now. I think ALL bands should become a bit more creative on the field and step up their presentation....not necessarily over into the realm of corp, but up to a level where every part of the show wouldn't be so predictable. DM Entrance, Fanfare, downfield drill, midfield drill, dance feature, maybe a concert selection, dance routine, then exit. I'd like to see more themed shows......More section features in arrangement.......more creative drills.......there are so many ways for us to get better and step outside of our respective boxes. Colleges too.

    My bad I'm sorry but I'm still right, the event I was talking about was the dance & drumline comp. By the same people and either way it still prove a point. CGHS got the dance tittle so The judges are not bias to the Meac bands . O yea ATL's biggest bands, SWD, MLK , SHS, MGHS are meac styled while Redan and CGHS are "other" ATL is majority Meac.

    Aplause... now show me the schools that's directed by a FAMU grad and explain to me why the Meac support in ATL is stronger than the other confrences? And when Cedar Grove had a Famu director they still didn't do well at Nats, they may had done better this year!

    Being knighted by FAMUs majic baton doesnt guarantee a 200+ member band except where the mixture is like Dekalb County...

    Most black schools stop growing around a certain numbers due to, lets say, outside influence. Black school gets a bit too large, out sided influence votes to build another across the street all in the name of "growth". In Dekalb county black schools can actually grow. One of the few black counties in America that can do that. A perfect example is what happend to WIllowridge in Fort Bend County, TX. They took a perfect decent black school, performing above average for a minority school and built a technology powerhouse 2 miles down the road to destroy WIllowridge. Look across FB at Clements, no one is saying theyr "too large". The same goes on everywhere, including Atlanta.

    On the flip side, when you have bands that marched the SWAC style that were CLEARY better bands scoring lower than the comp simply because they march MEAC…that’s a damn shame!

    All of the damn judges were from the Va, DC, or Carolina area- name one decent SWAC band in that area? Those bands are straight MEAC.

    It’s clear to me why each year less and less SWAC bands are returning to this event- even when it’s in their own back yard.

    You forgot about EASTERN HS BAND that came to jamboree? Ya know the band with the mellos? They are a hybrid. NSU/ SU. They always looked like SU but drilled like HU.. Whoms original director at HU is from SU... Ballou hs might look like NSU but staff has no relationship with NSU, Their Bd is from Univ. Of DC (CIAA).. one of our bands were there (Northwestern) bd is from Morgan and do you see them anywhere in the top 10?
