POSITION TITLE: Head Band Director - Hightower HS
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in instrumental music
Four years experience as head or assistant band director
Valid teaching certification in secondary music
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To provide instruction to students enrolled in the band program. Provide opportunities for students to excel in all aspects of individual and group performance and competition.
JOB GOALS: Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain progress with marching, concert, and individual band instruction, practices, and performances; assign, supervise, and coordinate job responsibilities of other instructors in the wind and percussion programs; understand and uphold all rules, regulations, and dates that pertain to the instrumental music program, (UIL, TMEA, Fort Bend ISD policies all apply); monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for all extra-curricular activities; develop, implement, and monitor a public relations program that will keep the public aware of the accomplishments and events involving students of the instrumental music program; support and assist feeder programs as much as possible; develop, implement, and monitor an audition, recruitment, and placement program/schedule for all potential band students; guide all booster club activities as policies and procedures require; effective communication both orally and in writing with all participants and stakeholders.
