Not one D.C. high school marching band wants to play Donald Trump’s inauguration
to put this into prospective, This would the 1st time in for over 40 years...or 7 inaugurations there's been without a DCPS representation...

I read about that yesterday. that's a great thing, its almost like protesting, imo
No one asked why? If they're protesting, it better be for more money to improve their schools.
Not sure what they get out of not performing for a high-profile event like a Presidential inauguration. That's a once in a lifetime performance. But this is no surprise when your local HBCU issues statements like the following...
“I think everybody knows why and no one wants to say and lose their job,” Howard University band director John Newson told NBC’s Washington affiliate station WRC-TV. He said Howard’s “Showtime” marching band, which performed at Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009, did not apply for the inaugural parade because of budgetary constraints and a shortage of members.
Lol trust me....,. DCPS does not need any money set aside for school improvements they pop out newly built schools every 2 years lol.

If anything they need the right person to jumpstart Music Programs. Eastern, Ballou and Duke are the only full Marching programs in DC, others are marching pep bands.. We are praying someone can work wonders at H.D Woodson home of the Warriors...preferably someone from Famu.
Howards Problem is Funding and being that they are Private. School is not for throwing money at the Marching band program. some students quit and transfer to other schools in the area.. Mind you HU is the only college in DC that has a marching program.

Aren't those areas undergoing gentrification? Sure looked like it. Blacks suffered in horrible schools for years. Now D.C builds new schools? Don't be silly.
