Notable HBCU Band Members

Hey Guys

Just had a quick question for all you REAL BANDHEADZ. How many famous musicians, actors, politicians, etc. that have been members of HBCU marching bands. Anything you all can dig up ... POST IT

    I know TXSU has quite few notable musicians. I knew one member was a trumpet player or sax player was a member of the band on the Jay Leno show.

    Branford Marsailis marched for SU...I think he was the only Marsailis that did marching band beyond high school
    The others were Classical and Jazz Musicians.

    World Renowned Jazz Artist Michael Thomas marched in Grambling's Band. Lovett Hines and Bob French, jazz artists also marched in the Grambling Tiger Marching Band also.

    That's false because Maceo Parker went to school in North Carolina.

    there actually was a famous nfl football player that marched for SU in the late 60's early 70's,,i have to do some research to find his name,...i forget
