There are alot of things that grind peoples gears with HBCU bands. A couple of mine are I hate when the band announcer talks during the dance girl number and dance routine. ALSO when people try to compare bands who has two different styles, with who is better n who isnt. For example you cant compare a show style band with a core style band and think one is better. What are some of yours?

Man I sat on gsu side for bayou classic botb past year and some of the shit I heard was jus so unexplainable.
SU stole that neck from gsu, I'm like what?!! My dad who marched for su said son jus dont say nothin, the people over here saying this has never marched to a street beat or a roll off in their life.
This one lady said su stole gsu idea of wearing windsuits and I got the fuck up n went roaming through the dome...smh
I used to hear all the time, Band is not a real sport. "Why you in the Band" they don't do nothing but dance and play loud. That shit used to piss me off cause those 5am practices, the running, holding a tuba for 6 hours a day, and the 5000 push-ups i did as a crab made me feel like i was training for the Olympics. Not to mention the perception Drumline gave people...
only if you could hear whats said on SU side its the same thing!! ppl say gsu stole the idea from SU cuz he brung mystikal in 2000. but GSU had boyz to men in 91 and 92 they had glen jones an shai and 93 had that group that sang cry no more its now to the point of the new classes dont KNOW NOTHING!!! its only what they see now. and what pisses me off is when they HEAR their favorite band play a song then band b play it later in the season they stole it come on now! i can name many songs that GSU JSU OR SU OR TXSU OR whatever have played and su gsu or whoever played at a next game after the other band played it....the thing is you dont know if the band been had it maybe it wsant ready lol

When ppl see you with ur instrument & ask you 2 play sum BS........true story I had sticks in my hand & had sum du'mas ask me 2 play "ordinary people".........*forehead in hand*
I march in the north (Central Michigan Univ.) but I also follow HBCU Bands and people always say things like: Why they always dancin? Where's the musicality? Where's the marching? Where are the flags? Why those girls (the dancers or dance team) half naked? Why does the announcer announce like that? And a bunch more questions like that. People need to understand that no band is the same. Even if they are both corp style or both show style. Different bands have different traditions and just do things differently so stop worrying about it and enjoy the show!! That's all I'm sayin.
