Prairie View A&M Univ. Tentative Football Schedule

This is from the athletic department : PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (February 18, 2009) PVAMU Head Coach Henry Frazier III has his sights set on winning a SWAC Championship. The Panthers posted a 9-1 record in 2008 and almost ran into a situation where a three-way tie determined who would play in the conference championship game. The squad will begin upcoming spring practices with the attitude of letting nothing get in the way of winning the conference crown in 2009 and return 1st team All-SWAC selection Donald Babers, who led the conference in rushing yards. Im ready to lead the charge for the team, said Babers. Anything less than playing in the championship game and winning it would be a disappointment. The team will kick the season off against Texas Southern University for the much anticipated Labor Day Classic (Sept 5). A major testing ground will come when the Panthers travel to New Mexico State (Western Athletic Conference) to lock horns with the Aggies (Sept 12). Frazier will then take his squad back to Los Angeles, CA to participate in the Angel City Classic for a rematch against Morehouse College (Sept 19). The team will look to tame the Grambling State Tigers in a showdown (Oct 3) at the Cotton Bowl (Dallas, TX). The team will remain on the road the following week to battle the Alabama State Hornets (Oct 10) before heading home for the first game of the season at Blackshear Stadium in a much anticipated homecoming showdown with Mississippi Valley State (Oct 17). The Panthers next conquest will be making it two straight victories over Southern University as they travel to Baton Rouge, LA to grind it out with the Jaguars (Oct 22) before coming home to battle Alabama A&M (Nov 7). Alcorn State will be out for revenge versus the Panthers when the two teams tangle in Mississippi (Nov 14) after Babers ran straight through the Braves defense in last years season finale going over the 1,000 yard mark. The team returns home to honor its seniors in a Pre-Thanksgiving weekend game versus Arkansas Pine Bluff (Nov 21). The SWAC championship game will be held on December 12, 2009 in Birmingham, AL. Kick-off is set for 1pm at Legion Field. • They seeing 3 SWAC bands if they go to Southern, and hell at least they get to go to New Mexico. When I was in the band, the farthest we went to was Alabama. Besides that we went to Dallas and Texarkana. Believe me, there nothing in Texarkana but dirt and girls with no teeth. Im glad PV is getting out and about..
  • Every year people whine about us not traveling. Like its new or something? Write a letter...

  • to be honest..i actually like the fact that they dont play so many SWAC bands...its nice to venture from the standard and broaden the horizon by playing out of the SWAC....i mean i would get tired of playing those same old schools each year..jus my opinion
