I'm gonna be working with some middle school kids, and to be honest. Their director is already doing lots of the work. I'll just be assisting to assure that the students say focused on what they're trying to accomplish. These kids tend to stray off due to Domesic issues.
Keeping members in middle school is a problem now adays due to lack of transportation for the Kids and things like that. aside from that. many of them want be in band. they just don't want to learn how to be a bandsmen. That's part of why I'm gonna be there. MOTIVATION
as a upcoming senior, jump on my advanced scales. I know all my major and minor scales. i was going to touch base on octatonic, pentatonic and blues scales. as well as prepare my audition piece when i audition for the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. sorry SWAC lol. and work on a few marches i found in the library
Personal Goals - Continue to perfect my tone on my horn....since i got braces on my bottom teeth, its gone be hard adjusting my embouchure, but nothing practice won't cure.
Goals for my band - provide great, musical, full arrangements...continue to get the BMMB name out there and help recruitment. Bring the crabs along and help them get acclimated to the band, while at the same time make them stronger as people and musicians
Personal Goals: Learn and implement some more effective techniques that improve the outcome of my students
Goal for band: Improvement in the areas of pride, discipline, and dedication. Beginning band to be well-versed in the previously mentioned areas, while learning how to produce a good characterisitic tone on their instrument, appreciation of music reading and of diverse music, accurately reading and performing whole, half, and eighth note rhythms. Advanced Band to improve tone quality and ensemble skills. Improved appreciation of unfamiliar band literature and a sense of inspiration to stop coming to class unprepared to make music. Also want to move the band to play at least 1 Grade 2 piece by the end of the year successfully. Knowledge of at least 3 major scales and to be able to accurately read more complex rhythms.
Also trying to get a more balanced instrumentation, my band is much too brass heavy.
Goals For Band:
Increase the size of each brass section
3 more marches (purple carnival, lassus, and trombonium)
continue to build a more diverse book
send all 8 of my sr. bandsmen to a college program!
My personal goals are to get down every scale known to man kind, get lessons, get a I on my solo at MSBOA, do good at my college auditions, and finally pass down my legacy. lol thats sounds egotistical but... ya know.
Goals for my band would have to be work harder, get I's at MSBOA, and discipline.
Kelsey, that's not ego talking, that's pride and commitment in what you do!

PREPARING FOR NEXT SEASON...
Musicans always have something to work on...
What are your personal musical goals for the next season?
What goals would you set for your band?
personal goals-learn all 12 major scales, and to get a nice sharp sound out of my instrument, preject more sound
goals for my band-learn how to preject more sound, dont let personal issues get in the way of band, percussion not to play louder than the instruments, and for percussion not to say something when a section in our band is about to play a fanfare.
Work on a round sound....not a sharp one.... and as far as the band goals go, that needs to be discussed amongst your leaders on who can say what when....crabs don't need to come in complaining about anything
