well...basketball we the hornets just handed alabama's girls a loss. Because of the small amount of publicity I have always felt that b ball is our best shot at recognition. most schools have the facilities to recruit good teams. Now we just gotta get some recognition. I E tv time.
All HBCUs need to do a better job of marketing and advertising our schools. Band should not be at the forefront if we want our athletics to be taken seriously.
We also need to put a better product on the field...losing to average/below average white teams every year makes us look slaw.
It's hard for the SWAC to recruit top notch athletes. You either have to 1. get a transfer from a bigger school who only has a couple of years of eligibility or 2. get a sleeper who the big schools don't think are good enough and hope he develops into a heck of a player.
Isnt it like that for ALL black colleges? For some reason we end up getting the bottom of the barrel when it comes to top high school athletes.

I listen to espn at work an they dog the SWAC ALL THE TIME....the only thing we have is band....really...?
SWAC Athletics is a joke and everybody knows that.
SWAC will not be able to get good recruits because the absolute best recruits go to the big name schools like UT, FL, USC, etc and the decent recruits go to the mid-tier schools like Houston, UTEP, ECU, etc.
the SWAC gets the leftovers from all those other schools in which makes our conference a joke.
PV won the SWAC championship but lost to New Mexico State who is 1-7 (tied for last) in the WAC conference. that should tell you how our conference stands against below average mid-tier schools.
