  • :)nice we didnt even have a mariachi band when i was there.
  • HeyWilmore yall be careful at this performance bro.  I just looked up some of the history of that organization when I saw Confederacy and they are representing some racist fundamentalist principals.  Im glad Sam Houston is getting some recognition though.  That school and commuity really needs it.

And I aint trying to startle nobody but I have run ins with racist people who are alumi of our school.  Two years ago, we celebrated our 70th year homecoming and I saw more rednecks than I ever saw before.  The former bandmembers from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s gathered in the bandroom while my kids were getting dressed to perform and I overheard a conversion that went:

"Hey guy, you see that band? They got a nigger leading the band that we built.  And the kids are all Mexican.  What the hell is the world coming to?"  and they were all shaking their heads and looking at me crazy so I politely asked them to leave so the students could get dressed but I swear that has bothered me.  anyway congrats and be careful

  • Will do bruh. I also looked into that group and saw some things too. They are bring a choir to sing along with some of the tunes we are playing.

    Some good light finally.

  • No matter what you do, how well you do it, you will always be a ______ in their eyes! Just go MLK on their hind parts and turn the cheek. Now you know the emotions he had in the 60's. You have resurrected a program that was forgotten about and doing a d___ good job at it! Maintain your dignity and take solace in the fact that they must live with the FACT that a minority is doing the job, they felt a minority could not do. Props to you and the Austin band for your accomplishments and I will try to attend the Sam Houston celebration. I think I know where it is. LOL!
  • Uh...Corpstyle didn't work at Austin...If it did they wouldn't have NOT had a band in the first place. And it was funny that Edison had a MARCHING BAND and when they stopped marching Austin's program went under...Same thing happened Out here...Then they blame the kids...
