Scholarships- Who has the best scholarship package in the HBCU
I wanted to know who has the best scholarship package.I was discussing with friends earlier and kinda figured I'd ask the band community what their s…
  • You'd be surprised...

Some of the best bands are giving the LEAST amount of money. Some bands are giving out free rides left and right, and get POO return on their investment.
  • it really depends on whether or not your going in state or out of state............if out of state your band scholarship may only cover out of state fees.
  • its usually the band thats not doing the best. When i was coming into college about 2 years ago Valley offered me 16 g's. That was THE ONLY band that gave me over 6 g's a semester. Of course coming into the HBCU set youre thinking about jumping on board with the best band..but that money will keep you sane when you foolin with college bands lol.
  • 16 G's per semester?
  • Thats 16's Gs spread over four years that really aint alot due to tuition increases, dorm and houses and those expensive textbooks you got to buy. You make college stay finacial feasible by gettin one of those work study gigs, get u a student loan and just have fun. I knw when i was at TXSU i had work study gig paying me more than $850-980 a month depends on how many hours i clocked in or better yet made up.
  • My advice is look for scholarships outside of marching band. I know at Bama State your marching band scholarship probably won't be ish ( and the chances of you keeping that little bit decreases with time). The real money makers are symphonic band wind ensemble jazz band and the small ensembles. With the right gpa you can also get a school of music scholarship if you’re a music major. ( that will usually cover the full cost of tuition.) That’s how you make your money not with one scholarship but five or six. Show that you’re versatile and can be of asset to the university in more ways then one.
  • Well I'm at MVSU on a scholarship that's for $9,000 and I only stay down the road. I know a girl that's on scholarship for $16,000. That's not for all 4 years. That's only for 1 year and it's renewable if you do what you have to do like practice, perform, and keep the grades up. MVSU was one of three colleges I auditioned for and gave me this full scholarship.
  • definitely not SCSU...

a lot of people got cuts this semester
so that everybody could get a piece...

apparently, the board of directors thinks band students get paid too much
which is why I had to apply for more financial aid this semester to make up for the lack of band money

    bastards...
