Shifting the paradigm <<<<(pronounced "Pair-ah-dime')....

All to often I see cymbals sections do the same ish....depending on what region you are in. Creativity is slumping becuz everyone is stickin' to one way to do things.... I'm encouraging everyone here who plays cymbals, or runs their respective cymbal section to switch the swagger in your style a little....Take note of what your rival section does. Learn a move from them then try to create sumthing to top it. Play more complicated parts within the section instead of the regular downbeat stuff... Check the clips below of Santa Clara Vanguard.....Go to the surrounding colleges and learn from the cymbal section leaders. Try to out-do the colleges. To be the best, you have to do what your opponent does, but BETTER. While also executing your own stuff to its best...I'm tired of cymbals being looked as the flag corp of the drum section.... Sections like SU/TxSU/Pine Bluff/BCU bring out the instrumental aspect of cymbals. After all, cymbals IS STILL a percussion instrument....Shift the paradigm of how bandsmen view cymbals/cymbal players...
