well bandhead community i come again to you very unbias and ask that you decide if alabama state mmh arrangement of "everything she wants"should be burned or should southern's arrangement of "everything she wants" be burned.
Im not a hater or nothing but ASU sound bad and there numbers has really really dropped...i didnt know what the song was at first.....I like Our version(txsu) and SU version 2 be honest bu ASU need 2 let that song go
come on GREG...SEE I told yall!lol!! You'll say something like this dude saying the same thing i say, so i'm right about asu and the WORLD should feel the same, and anyone in the world who doesn't feel the same are just wrong about themselves and how they feel
ALL i wanted is a honest unbias opinion.and if u r correct ppl will say its not bad. but if i only ask asu ppl they would say we dont know music or we dont have a degree so how would we know and so forth.but im keeping my opinion of this to myself.i wanna know what the other part of the world thinks
i can't really compare the two arrangments, since they're so different.
In SU's i can't hear the trumpets towards the end of the verse. don't they have the melody? And when the mellos play the concert F, F, G, Ab, G, F, Eb, F, group of eighth notes with the baritones, I couldn't understand what was going on because there wasn't enough clarity. By the same token, there are issues with clarity as well in our own version in this particular clip. so like i said, i can't really compare the two because neither EXECUTION, not arrangement was on point, in these clips. Besides I KNOW for a fact that these two executions weren't the best I've heard from each of these bands. I don't know how to compare two ARRANGEMENTS when the execution of both bands wasn't at it's best. And even if they were, I STILL would hold true to the fact that the concept in ASU's version sounds totally different from what the concept in SU's seemed to have been. On another thread, people were saying the arrangement is based off of the interpretation of the arranger. there's no right or wrong way to interpret music. at the same time, you can't please everyone. lol.By the way, is the director conducting, painting, or swatting at flies at the beginning. lol (harmless smack)
u know i have a lot of respect for your talent and ability but u know that most ppl that come on here have no idea what u r talkin about and to breakdown specific notes is not necessary 4 real.but most listeners of band music just wanna b able to recognize the song and on this particular song u really cant tell what bama state is playin unless you know what to listen 4 or this just just happens to be your favorite song

so which arrangement of "everything she wants"should be kept and which should be burned bama state…

And they're gonna continue to be ignorant to what's going on for real unless someone breaks things down for them. MOST people who post on here don't even know what Everything She Wants is. lol So I doubt if they're listening for something they recognize in the song. As a matter of fact there are a lot of songs that SU plays that i don't know the names of or the artist, but I'M listening for how it's executed. There have been plenty of times that I've stated for many bands "I don't know what the hell that is, but it sounds pretty good"....or pretty bad, depending on the execution of it. Plus I only broke down the part I was talking about by notes, because I doubt if anyone knows the words to that part of the song. I don't even know the words to that part of the song. But if they are real musicians, I would HOPE they can relate to note names. lol There's a song that SU played last year against FAMU I think it's called "Wouldn't Change a Thing" I've never heard the real song before, and listening to them play it well, I really don't have to in order to know that I like it. But it's only because they executed it well that I like the song. I think execution is the most important aspect of getting the point across in an arrangement, and in these particular clips I know that neither band played those songs the way that they normally would play it had it been executed well. That was my whole point really. lol See ya at the game...I'll be SOMEwhere near the band and sidelines.
