I don't know about y'all, but I'm feeling some kind of way about our HBCUs. There are many HBCUs struggling just to remain open, I think a couple have been closed down, losing accreditation, and so forth. In addition, our bands and organizations are being suspended for hazing. I really do not under the psychology and reason behind hazing for anything necessary, but it has put even more of a target on HBCUs. People are dying and suffering life long consequences because of this. I'm afraid that with the current state of the US economy and how it's affecting HBCUs including the social organizations causing harm to reputation, our schools are going to be shut down one by one.....what do y'all think?

I feel the same way completely most feel that hazing is a right of passage into sections and organizations. Also some upper classmen within the program gain that '''They did it to me so its my turn to do it to you'' Mentality when really it can easily end and be avoided just by stopping that foolishness yea you feel all good and you think to yourself I made it but the only the you did was follow the leader instead of saying enough. HBCUs are in danger because of traditions based around Sheer ignorance of wanting to be apart of something that you can earn your keep in by simply being the best at what you do...I mean cmon isnt being good on your horn enough?...Is it not enough to simply understand those in the band and respect your fellow bandsmen.I have respect for my instrument and I have respect for HBCUs but if you dont want your school shut-down then work towards making your band or whatever organization your in a better one for future members...Not hitting them or whatever dont make you weak it makes you a good mentor and a Brother I can respect and thats real shit.
The reason I'm not lettered today. I'll live, I swear by a...nvm. this directly coincides with what had happened in the media. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
