Will they ever bring back the different color flags????
  • They had a flag for every parish ..LOL j/k
  • They might bring them back but does it really matter?....it's probrably gonna be one on st Augs least worried about problems..it's not really even a problem ....example...in 2007 the band returned with new uniforms and in 2008 and ever since they returned with the purple plumes on their helmets...maybe they'll get some new flags but I highly HIGHLY doubted
  • Those Uniforms are from the 80's early 90's the newer ones had a purple cape and was darker than the ones they're currently wearing .. and the helmets were different .. Those helmets are probably from the 70's tho ..LOL
  • Lol..yeah I remember those uniforms with the purple and gold cape..those were the best..I don't really like the new capes...

  • the GOLD OVERLAYS w/the purple"MARCHING 100" date back to the 1970s ..........the GOLD OVERLAYS/CAPES date back to the 1960s...

.when they got new uniforms pre-Katrina: # 1 it was a new company that could not/did not replicate the traditional helmets # 2 made new capes/overlays.

The post-Katrina helmets are much closer to the helmets worn in the '60s,'70s,'80s & '90s....

The band as well as the basketball team(banners in gym) had flags representing THE TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC LEAGUE SCHOOLS WHICH WERE ST AUG RIVALS WHEN THE PURPLE KNIGHTS INTEGRATED La high school sports/music/academic competitions!!!!!!!!!!

Those flags didnt showcase EACH & EVERY school that were members of the New Orleans Catholic League BUT they represented the longest tenured, currently opened schools that were members..

.For 3 years ST AUG WAS THE ONLY BLACK SCHOOL PARTICIPATING IN THE LHSAA(1967,1968,1969)...

The entire state of Louisiana became totally integrated in the 1970/1971 school year..

Those Catholic flags were a respect & acknowledgment to the schools that helped integrate La........

St.Aug was a Black Catholic and very prominent thus the school was named after a Black Saint...Its was inevitable that eventually the RED,BLACK & GREEN FLAG WOULD BE ADDED TO THE FLAGS...........

those such as the Rose & Macys flags were issued by the parades themselves(duplicate flags might be issued)...

Finally if/when Tiller and staff decide/are able to march the minimum 128 instruments and full compliments of flags, you'll probably see those missing flags again.........

REMEMBER,BEFORE THE MIDDLE 1980s,AUG ONLY MARCHED w/THE JOSEPHITE FLAG,THE AMERICAN FLAG,2 BANNER HOLDERS AND 5-8 total FLAGS & COLOR GUARDS !!!!!!!!!!((i think the La flag was also present)
