Stephen F. Austin Sonic Boom Band was one of 4 of the top bands in Houston included in a feature called "Battle of the Bands." The other 3 bands are 100% Corps and very priviledged. Stephen F. Austin is a program that began from scratch just a few years ago and has achieved national attention,
If you value high stepping and putting on a show at a parade and halftime, we need your VOTE. Otherwise we will continue to hear "THIS is what a band should sound and look like" as we watch a band play elevator music while gliding across the field.
Take a second and VOTE... ITs open to anyone anywhere

The only one worth seeing is Clear Brook, they're nice... reminds me of my old HS.
And the other bands arent privilaged, its called PARENTS and every student has a set.
Lies...
Fine Arts get the weenie in all districts. I don't think any school board will fund an entire bands expenses every year, they have to support Football & Basketball, cant live without them. But we live in a time when families can buy what they want if they want. My band fees in HS were $700/yr, I cut a few yards over the Summer and mom & dad participated in band fundraisers help pay them. Outside of the Disney, Six Flags and other fun trips the fees didnt cover, those were all my parents had to pay for out of pocket.
And we all know a majority of low income families get that EIC. Maybe that money should go to the child's future vs spending it on Ipads, Jordans, Girbauds or whatever is hot now. Because Ive worked at 3 schools that served so-called low income areas and if I didn't know any better and judged a students family income based on appearance, I would say they were doing just fine.

Well at last count, Aldine was winning by far. They had around 600 votes. Austin had about 200. So oh well. At least we were considered.
