LOL that was priceless. I understand they want to make a lil name for themselves but ya cnt start off with us(Aug). We have like 100 more people than them
Well, Austin began that battle out of RESPECT for St. Augustine's Marching 100 not just to prove a point. I have shown several videos specifically the documentary about how you guys rebuilt the band after Katrina. My students and I found that story to be remarkable. As a result, they wanted to see St. Aug for themselves. Austin recognizes the Marching 100's accolades and historical accomplishments.
Now Just because you have 100 more people and a historical reputation doesnt make you immune or give you guys authority to look down on another group. I train my students to not fear any band and to stay hungry at all times regardless of who it is. I also teach them to not be arrogant. I really had an issue when we lined up and a guy asked me "Are you crazy? Do you know who that is? Your band is about to get dealt with" All this even before one note was played. And since we're on the subject of reputation. Stephen F. Austin did not have a band from 2001 to 2005. I was faced with the task of starting the band over from scratch (no budget, no feeder, just a prayer).
Recently we have been recognized by Congress.
Invited to perform in Beijing, China
Invited to the Anniversary of Pearl Harbor
and Invited to the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.
keep doing what you're doing young man.. as long as those you are responsible for understand your teachings feel no need to clarify or justify. you've done great things with your program and continue to do so.. keep up the good work.

Stephen F. Austin vs St. Augustine @ Zulu Parade 2012
@DaTubaLegend Size doesn't mean anything, bruh. For example, look at the battles between Miller Grove and Redan in ATL or between Kennedy and John MAC in 95. Hell, you can even look at the SWD and St. Aug battles. The bigger bands were the ones getting dealt with. So let's not start feeling ourselves after having a very good year. As a Knight there is no need to brag or look down on other programs. We have always been more classy than that.
In other news, there was a band called SHAW high school from Ohio. That band was str8 mashing. They had some extra large baritones (marching euphoniums) and dizzy gillespie trumpets that put out some serious watts
