Ok, let me qualify. I wasn't at this game so I don't know what happened and who sounded like what in person. But based on this clips and hearing other bands play this live I don't see what the big deal is about with Southern playing this. Maybe it's one of those you had to be there to experience the fullness but this clip ain't doing it for me. Not hating, just saying. Somebody get a better quality clip up if available.
if you listen closely, you can make out how HIGH up in OCTAVES all sections are, ESPECIALLY the trumpets. Trumpets were hitting the same notes they were in "And then what"...enough said, right?
Tubas playing high,...mellos ringing out....and btones straight blasting...use your imagination to see what it mightve sound like from the front of the band

SU "Human Jukebox" : Holy Grail
here it is, ladies and gentlemen.
what are your thoughts?
I think i would have to listen in person. Its a good sound, but it just doesn't give the feel i get from Jsu. It really dont give me of the feel i get from the actual song...but its ok. And yes i attend Jsu and no i am not hating. Once i see the full 5th...i will give credit where it is due.
I was there....it was CRAZY!!! It was long, but at half time, JSU gave SU a low blow by reenacting the falling drum major incident, so it was warranted....then after this JSU actually bothered to play it back...so SU did the last part of this song AGAIN!!! You really had to be there to feel the power coming across. SU got a standing ovation after this song. The 5th was a thrashing...JSU got the football game tho.
It's one of those clips that everyone thinks smashing until they see the clip. Yeah the song straight but y'all went overboard with this song. Y'all acting like its a Mr.Icecream Man 06 clip or sum. Clearly everyone heard that fuck up from the mellos.
Haymer is not the best...dowell Taylor is. But dowell Taylor is letting his younger staff write. Dowell needs to start back arraning. But a lot of the songs that both schools play...the boom version is better. I garauntee u....whatever ballad su play...Taylor can out arrange haymer on..if Taylor would have wrote the same ballads that haymer wrote--he send haymer home...fact!
