I jus saw a flyer posted on Talladega Band page about another battle wit them && SU in October in Alabama. I'm wondering is really true . It's schedule to take place the Sunday after the Alabama State game .
These promoters can't be bandheads. Southern can pull a crowd without Talladega - especially in Mobile. Southern was smart enough to cash in on this "rivalry" first because this has already run it's course. The Talladega vs SU battle should've remained right there on the corner of Tchoupitoulas until Talladega proved themselves worthy. Since Honda 2015, Dega has shown that they're in a period of stagnation and struggling to maintain. There was the 2015 Bacchus parade where Talladega had the opportunity to prove themselves against [a smaller] SU and failed.
I knew Southern had the upper hand at the Midnight Maddness BOTB as everything was in Southern's favor... First, Southern's band was better prepared because of the football season. They've been practicing and exercising since the Summer. Not to mention Southern has had many performances to "feel the crowd." Talladega had one show in Charlotte and that's been it. Talladega probably stored their horns until the week of the SU battle. Southern has been out damn near every day in the heat practicing since the Summer.
Until Talladega steps it up, Southern just needs to go to these competitions, drop a few tunes in the stands for the fans, perform a fieldshow then bounce. And in my humble opinion, outside of fundraising, there's no need for Southern to attend these competitions. Playing around with Talladega outside of Mardi Gras is going to ruin their status in the long run because there's no real bragging rights at stake.
im thinking maybe it was a deal or something . idk , but I been asking people around school & band members and no one seems to be informed about it . so IDK .
well yeah.. ego boosters come out of these kinda rivalries and the bands make no money on the corner ..lol which is funny
