Summer music drought?

I'm wonder what's going to happen for the fall.  All the stuff the all-star bands played came out in April and May.  But haven't seen anything else truly hot since Memorial Day, even the couple of "dance routine" type tunes are kinda "blah"...

Hopefully something different happens in August...

  • ive been trying to find some dance routine songs.......no luck

found a few good stand songs though, but no dance routines.......respectable ones anyway
  • When did the song "Power" come out. I'm not sure.
  • Man, I'm trying to get some stuff together. NF gets started on Aug 2nd, and I don't want to show up empty-handed.

Good topic. Prof. taught you well and I hear a lot of him in terms of musicality in this topic. I'm sure the band directors out there will find something to bless us spectators and retired folks. Best of luck to you when it's time to put the pen to the paper.

  • This is definitely an old school year.
  • It's a lot of new songs out there to play this year. If you have a good arranger they will make it happen. I know TxSU book is going to be a fool!!! Lots of new songs and some throwbacks...
  • its a bunch of good mainstream songs out the for power ballads, stand jams and groove songs.....its just the dance routines that may lack a bit...

  • Yeah, there are very few dance routine songs, but of course those schools that are located in large metropolitan areas, such as Houston, New Orleans/Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Dallas, should be able to get by with the local/regional hits.

It doesn't matter to me, because my MS kids are going to like the few pop tunes I allow us to play. As long as we aren't playing Hot Cross Buns, they will like it.
  • over here in GA.....since everybody thinks they are "rappers".....the music is so %$#^ remedial it pains me to even think about writing those songs....
