Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and Prairie View A&M University are set to participate in a Battle of the Bands Showcase in El,Paso, TX on May 1, 2015. The main purpose of the event is to showcase to area high schools the band culture and style of the 3 schools of the Southwestern Athletic Conference and to recruit for the respective institutions of higher learning. Both ASU and MVSU currently waive out-of-state tuition fees. More information on the event should be made more official soon.

Only 3 percent of the population in El Paso, TX is black. So the participating schools are recruiting caucasians & hispanics? Interesting indeed
