The season has officially started and the bands are back in full effect. This is the early rankings of the best of the best of the SWAC after the first week. This is based off Overall Sound, Song Selection, Arrangements, Power, Swag, Presentation, Stands, Halftime, and 5th quarter.
1. Jackson State (Nice Sound. Good Drill. Overblowing. Update book.)
2. Alabama State ( Powerful. Good Stands. Smaller. Halftimes needs improving. Expand book.)
3. Southern (Powerful. Nice Swag. New song arrangements are horrible)
4. Texas Southern ( Nice Sound. Looks high school. Too much low brass for size)
5. Alcorn ( Much improved. Song Selection needs improvement.)
6. Arkansas Pine Bluff (Decent sound. no swag. Stay away from rap tunes. )
7. Alabama A&M ( Hanging in there. Rebuilding. Headed in right direction.)
8. Grambling ( Loud. Got Swag. Sloppy)
9. Mississippi Valley State ( Improved sound. No longer at the bottom. Uniforms a mess.)
10. Prairie View ( Sound ok. Small as hell. Middle Schoolish. seen better days)

Its week 1, so there will be some missteps..by mid season, they'll be fine.
Jackson state vs. Bama state should be the band matchup of the weekend. JSU took a convincing lost last yeat in Montgomery, but they have rebounded this year and are in Jackson so game on. They'll both bring their A game. AAMU got a new director. I hear they will be beasting this year.
1. JACKSON STATE ( GREAT SOUND )
2. ALABAMA STATE (POWERFUL, GREAT SOUND, NOT SMALLER ABOUT THE SAME SIZE = STILL THE LARGEST IN THE SWAC, GLAD THE THE TUBAS SOUNDING LIKE THE SILVER BULLETS AGAIN)
3 SOUTHERN (GREAT SOUND)
4 TXSU LOOKS GOOD
5 ALCORN LOOKING GOOD SOUNDING LIKE JSU 2010
6 PINE BLUFF BORING BUT ITS ONLY WEEK ONE
7 AAMU MAGIC CITY CLASSIC 2012 REPEAT

I will say this as much as I hate Blurried Lines when a band plays it no matter who plays it so far TXSU has the best arrangement of it . Just something about the song when I hear it! Just doesn't translate over to a good band song
