The Aspect of MARCHING Bands

What has happened to them? No smack intended, and with all due...maturity...it may be a dodged topic, but why are so few bands still energetic about their field presence. Why is it that the STANDS band aspect is more popular than MARCHING....if u can do both, it is understandable, but the key to being a MARCHING band is just that...MARCHING....What happened?

  • One dimensional band directors that allows the students to run the programs are a big cause for the downfall for one dimensional bands.
  • Bands spend more time in the Stands than on he field. Generally, and outside of the fall, there arent many Marching Events for bands  that's why it seems to matter most...  it's also the reason bands are weaker when they move... that's not a good thing,,

  • So the Crats, Southern, Cookman, Norfolk, A&T and others who handle business in the stands and on the field are making sure the time spent outside isn't in vain when many other bands take the field lightly. The stands doesn't get bands invited to events, it's the field and until directors and students realize that again you will see the same bands receiving exposure and others dreaming of exposure.
  • the aspect of marching is dead to people. Fieldshows mean a lot to some, and it shows in the bands who care. Sad thing is, most people wont even record a fieldshow now-a-days. smh. they would rather catch a 5th than a halftime. So what happens if the band does a half assed fieldshow and no 5th? Whos the winner then?
