The Best of the SWAC Last Decade

This is something I've had a few interestiong conversations about and would like to see how others feel...this isn SMACK, just(hopefuly unbiased) talk. I'm basing my 3 top picks on these premises:

1. Sound Quality

2.Drill and Execution(Dance routine inclusive)

3.Book(versatility)

4.Stands(5th and gamewise)

Fall 2000: JSU UAPB Bama A&M...............(Bad year for the Jags)

Fall 2001: UAPB SU JSU..........................(TxSu decent year.., no book though, )

Fall 2002: JSU SU UAPB.......................(Good year By <------JSU stood out in 02)

Fall 2003: SU UAPB JSU......................(Pretty close, UAPB book had better versatility that year)

Fall 2004: SU JSU UAPB...........(in that order...nuff said)

Fall 2005: SU TxSU PV..............(Bad year for JSU,UAPB.....TxSU comes in swinging!!!)

Fall 2006: TxSu SU JSU...........(Maroon and Grey stole that season, Good year for the other two)

Fall 2007: SU TxSu JSU......(SU stood out that year)

Fall 2008: JSU/SU(??...real close) TxSU/Bama St..............(hornets emerge with size and sound....book and tone were lacking)

Fall 2009 SU UAPB JSU..........Not an impressive year overall

Fall 2010: TxSU/SU JSU......TxSU sound great improvements.....JSU....lost a little tone quality, good book though....

Will be interesting to see hwatr others think...again thisis no smack just based on whta I saw, I was there for most...lol(some folks will catcth that)....

In 2002, Mississippi Valley stuck out the most from all the SWAC bands..The sounded the best that year. Their drills on the field were done with exceptional precision.

2003 GSU was in the top 3 basing off your premises, 01 GSU was in the top 3 basing off of your premises.

2005 wasn't a bad year for UAPB. It was actually pretty good. We just didn't get as much exposure due to gas prices soaring like it did. Outside of the Chicago and Gateway Classics, the only road game we went to was Jackson.

Texas Southern just started to drill really in 2010 and their tone quality just started to get better in 2009. So they shouldn't be in the top 3 in 05,06 or 07.

I would put Bama State in 2005, 2006 A&M, Undecided. In all actuality Bama State and A&M aren't good drilling/precision bands so TXSU might get 2007 by default.

Negative. They've been drilling DECENTLY since 05. 03 was a good drillingb year. When has Bama St outdrilled Tx Sou or UAPB? This decade? Tone? No smack to BamaSt....but that hasn't happened. And I'm SERIOUSLY starting to believe a lot of people haven't seen much of SU or UAPB...EVER. UAPB has been consistent drilling-wise...very much so. And SU murdered everybody in 2000...just some not as bad as others....and though some may disagree...JSU was on top in 03...I was there and faced them. So was SU.

Texas Southern sounded like a high school for most of this decade being mentioned even with a nice size in 2003. Just because you do step 2's doesn't mean you're drilling either. Texas Southern just really started to drill this past season. Tone quality? Bama State is not one of my favorites but their tone quality has been much better than Texas Southern's for the most part.
