AS I SIT BACK... I WATCH AND HEAR ALOT OF DISCUSSIONS ABOUT BOTH TEXAS BANDS FEELING THAT THEY EITHER GOT WITH OR SMASHED SU THIS YEAR... ON THE FLIP SIDE, I SEE WHERE SU FEELS THAT THEY SMASHED BOTH TEXAS BAND THIS YEAR... THE TRUTH IS THE THREE BANDS REALLY DISAPPOINTED ME THIS YEAR. TO BE HONEST... PV SOUNDED BETTER AGAINST SU THAN TSU DID... TSU IS JUST LOUDER AND HAVE BETTER ARRANGEMENTS... TSU DOES SOUND BETTER ON THAT TALKIN IN YOUR SLEEP SONG THOUGH...SU IS STILL KILLIN PEOPLE BUT THEY ARE NOT WHERE THEY USE TO BE... THE ONLY SONG THAT I FELT WAS LIL JON... EVERYTHING ELSE WAS LIKE OK... I JUST DONT FEEL THAT UMPH THAT I USED TO HEAR... I REMEMBER THAN 03 CAN U FEEL IT AGAINST NCAT, 04 NOLIA CLAP AGAINST PV, 06 RUFF RYDERS AGAINST TSU AND THE WAY THE SOUND NOW ARE JUST LIKE :-/...PV NEEDS TO START GOIN TO AWAY GAMES... IT PISSES ME OFF THAT THEY ONLY GO TO GAMES AND BATTLES, IF THEY ARE GETTIN PAID... THE ONLY GAMES PV BAND TRAVELS TO ARE CLASSICS... LOL... OH AND ALSO... THEY NEED A NEW ARRANGER...TSU HAS BEEN A BAND THAT EITHER STARTED OFF GOOD AND ENDED OFF BAD OR STARTED OFF BAD AND ENDED OFF GOOD... WE NEED SOME CONSISTENCY TSU AND THEN WE'LL BE ABLE TO SAY THAT YA'LL ARE THE BEST AND ARE SMASHING PEOPLE...
You need to be a member of bandhead.org to add comments!
yeah consistancy as in game after game, year after year .. one or two songs make no difference with the rest of your rep isnt bringing heat. good thread brother wiltz.
Yeah man... I was just reading the comments on the pv/su game clips and i am like they are talking about who played the song first, which arrangements are better, and how many ppl are hating on the three bands but they aren't realizing that all 3 need major work...
so about the going to away for p.v. thats not really up to the band. we would love to go, but the school does not give us any money for travel its not about the band getting paid. and as far as the arrangements, what makes pv's s bad?

The type of band member at all three schools has changed (as with every school), the traditions and overall sound has changed, and the music being played is more transposed than arranged (arrangements to me haveing creative addins like really sick chords that were not in the original but fit you band perfectly). I some cases change is good and in others traditions were better left alone; in that same breath I have to catch myself from attempting to compare a band at 2008 to 2003 or heaven forbid 1994. It is simply not the same. It's a harsh reality but I had to accept it.
Ya'll actually sound better than SU when it comes to having muscianship BUT ya'll arrangments are so high schoolish... Ya'll have the numbers to blow out someone but ya'll have no potential with those horrible arrangements... I been to PV Homecoming game, PV vs. SU, and since mah girl go to PV, I be there alot and I sometimes here ya'll practicing... It's like I was hearing that yas'll were goin to smash TSU this year and ya'll were back up on numbers and I was kinda scared because PV haven't got with TSU since 2004(yeah.... the my band year...) When I saw the clips online it had a still shot of ya'll band and another clip had a still shot of tsu band and i was like oh shit... After I heard ya'll, I was like.. Same ol same ol... Bring back the 2002 PV... THE "SU vs. PV in the Astrodome Contagious battle" PV... I'm not sayin ya'll sorry but even though ya'll sound a lil bit better than most SWAC bands ya'll arrangements doesn't give ya'll the upper hand at all...

Exactly bruh... TxSU started caring about power over muscianship... SU went up in numbers and don't sound as good as they sounded when they were 128... SU was str8 in 03 even though TSU did kill them at UofH Stadium(In Those Jeans battle was nice)... PV is just needing to give up the traditional arrangements AND fanfares... I am tired of looking for a good battle from PV and here swamp, p-funk, and etc... I was upset when ya'll blew Dance No Mo at TSU in 05... Might as well blow Smiley's Can U Feel It too... lol... TSU and SU went away from Tradition and PV went into PV and Smiley tradition and that's killin me...

He tried to pass that out this year!! we kinda fluffed it on purpose so we wouldn't play it. I'm ok with some stuff being brought up, but Can You Feel it, nahsuh. I'm one of the main arrangers and im still trying to understand why they are so called " Highschoolish" i don't see how that is tha case. please explain. im a writer who believes in writteing the song exactly the way it is. nothing extra, unless there isn't enought in the song to work with. just my opinion of arrangin. You should be able to sing the song with tha band exactly, no simplifying.

All I can say is I love that Talkin In Yo Sleep... Ya'll Please Excuse my Hands was nice... And that Here I Am in the Homecoming field show was nice... Everything else was blah... I could never get into ya'll version of Lil Wayne's Started Out Hustlin, Ended Up Ballin... It seems so weird...
