In prep for what looks to be a season or two w/o the Infamous Florida A&M Marching 100rd hitting any fields, what college(s) will be most affected by this shift in band culture? Keep in mind, there will be millions upon millions of 100rd fans all over the world looking for a temporary/new home in their Rattlers absence.
Please feel free to share any kinds of futures you foresee directly resulting from the immediate suspension and de-fielding of the Marching 100rd.

I think all HBCU bands will be affected. FAMU in many eyes is the Flagship of a black college band and a model of what we all are pushing for. So with them out of commission all eyes will definately shift to the next top level bands like JSU, Southern, Norfolk and BCU. Luckily BCU is pretty good at keeping quiet and is noted to be pretty disciplined. Any other good bands are under a microscope until further notice.
Whether of not any HBCU band does anything in the near future I see this whole thing as both a distraction and an added stress for the directors. Instead of focusing on musicality, they have to watch their backs every minute now. SMH because one fool or one group of fools dont realize that what YOU do can affect EVERYBODY, even people not involved.
FAMU will be the most affected by the loss of the Marching 100. The band was a vital part of the student life and campus atmosphere. This is a big blow for mighty FAMU. #former Rattler.
look for alot of GA HBCUs to see a lot of FAMU prospects shift their eyes to them
especially if MBC finally gets accreditation back

Though there will be plenty faithful fans from FAMU at any game but ticket sales or the games anticipation will harm slightly. I would say the Florida Classic may only get just 45,000 this year with the absence of the 100. Tennessee State will hold ground due to their game being a home game but the 100's absence will hurt the classics.
Gains, I must say the only gains for other schools will be North Carolina A&T or Central, Savannah State may increase numbers, CIAA and SIAC (Tuckegee/Ft. Valley/Albany) schools, and if so, the only SwAC bands that may lure 100 prospects could be between Jackson State, UAPB and Alabama A&M since other units are over bulk with Louisiana/Texas regional recruits. I might add Alcorn but location does not appeal the Rattler crowd. Plus you must remember, the majority of these prospects hail from Atlanta, the hotbed for marchers in the Southeast.
Truth be told, when Morris Brown returns with full accreditation, you can expect many bands to shrink anyways due to galore of marching with the M.o.B.
I don't think the classics will suffer that much initially but if the suspension last any longer than a year...you can expect to c some serious decline in attendance. I think someone hit it on the head earlier....clearly FAMU, it's students, alumni, and fan base will suffer the most. But im sure this will give them all a chance to show how resilient the FAMU community is. This will not be the end but the beginning of a new era within the Marching 100rd. Hopefully one that will be a lot less violent and disorganized then it predecessor.
Im awaiting to see who the next director will be for the infamous 100rd. I think Dr. Sanford from NSU would b a good fit! I don't think it would be wise to hire another 100rd grad as director of bands. Maybe....just MAYBE as an assistant director from FAMU but not the head. Dr. Sanford brings that Big 10 experience, he's has a history of non violence and hazing, and he's been department head before. That man can come in and make some things happen and help paint a new face for the 100rd. What prospects do you all have in mind?

Yup....1 year. I personally think while that will send a message, it will not be enough to stamp out hazing in that band and on that campus! Question is, is that FAMU's real goal...to stamp out hazing on that campus? If so....more will be done!
I just created a petition: National Band Organization, because I care deeply about this very important issue. Petitioning congress to sign into law that Recognizes MARCHING BAND is a sport. By doing this you open up Scholarships and Grants on the Federal, State and Local levels for public and private levels.
