lately i been gettin a lot of emails of ppl askin me how to increse they range...yea i tell them how but not beofore i tell them this...screaming is not everything...take the range you have and make it so perfect that you can play any piece of music in that range....then start addings some range...and work that new range in just like you did your old range...id rather havea 25 piece section that can play anything i put in front of them and be able to hit a c great then havin a 40 piece section with 10 good players and 15 extra sorrry players...10 ok ppl who got range but aint got no power and 5 real good ones...sure range is good..but its for show, when you understand that you will become a great player...but just cuz you dont have range and you ok at the range you do have dont hate on range, try to learn from it not put down...and if you have range learn from those of something you dont have ost likely technicality and if you got everything keep practicing and teach others

i pretty much cosign with what you said, but you can't forget that range is a very important aspect of being a well rounded player. Of course tone and the technicalities come first, but the same songs that require you to play with a certain technique also require that you be able to play within a certain range. Particularly jazz songs, there is usually a lead trumpet part that requires extreme range. I think it's important that people also realize, range IS important to being a great trumpet player...but being a screamer with nothing else is pretty useless.
lol its not useless...everything you do on trumpet is useful...you can be the coldest screamer in the world and not have anything else but you the best screamer lol what im sayin is to be versatile like you said well rounded...but i only know like 10 ppl...that are just that well rounded and aint none of them in college...its all bout whatg you wanna do...but ppl who can only do one thing are lazy..cuz you can get better...anyone can get better...trumpet players range isnt everything..its the only thing...lol...to me...see i admit im a screamer i can scream for rever i can scream longer than playin in the staff...i can go as high as i want and as low and have power with it..my tone is ok and my technicality is average or a lil above...and not average on a highschool level..im talkin college..there is a difference..and i dont mean no sorry college im talkin bout on a national scale...think bout there are probably over a million trumpet players..and im sayin im average im not being cocky i just know what i need to work on...i need to work on singe tounguing and learn how to play a lil faster and learn how to triple tounge phrases i can do double a little bit like czrdas..by rafael medez...a lil...so my technicality i would say is averasge to good..my tone..is good that can always be better for any trumpet player, my range. honestly never met anyone with my range..besides one person...my cb and i dont evben no how he does it cuz it just hppened,,,lol...but yea im a good trumpet player, because i can teach my range skills to another who might tech skills , another one of my cb we go back all the way frommiddle scool.. i was always the high loud fast tounguin dude and he was the dude with not a lot of range but thaty boy could play...later in our years evgeryting got better between us playin wise cuz we learned from each other,...i got more tech skills and he got a lil range but dont get ambitiouis to where it hurts you and you forget bout everything else...like i said if you perfect your range and add on to it from there...youd be a bad mama jama..colleges and looking for screamers they lookin for trumpet players
so u a beast julian lol.......but anyways thats true.......i hate sections dat just scream scream scream........use the other aspects of the horn also...........
