What’s up with Ocean?

We can pretend that Ocean hasn’t been all over the place, but the band is untamed!

-The DMs are always off

-Motion have moments but still inconsistent, .almost a decade later.

-Euphoniums are overkill and we hype it so that we can get that same unbalanced sound.

-Halftime shows used to be so lit!

-The new uniforms are just as tacky as the loose band director suit the Head BD wears.

We are good, but I’m gonna assume that we are only as good as those leading the program and we may need to get out of our comfort zone and get a band director who can take the band to new heights and bring more discipline.

  • these current editions are the best versions of the ocean we had since the prof.Butler days...yea we have some issues that need to be fixed but gip and grey are doing a great job to me...these are the best arrangements and song selection we have had...also this is the best recruitment we have seen since I marched back in 2002...they aint no pushover band and they are becoming more popular than ever before. I'm not gonna judge the uniforms because that depends on your taste. personally I like the traditionals but hey its a new wave of band people so they might love it. on the other hand I like the euphos txsu just featuring them more because they the dominant section hell just like su been doing their trumpet section for years and jstate their mellos in recent years...I dont see nothing wrong with the drum majors I love the aggressive approach they bring to the program...im not a dance type person so I cant speak on the motion...but I love the direction the band is going in I feel like its their band they brought back and kept alot of old ocean culture but if they wanna go out and do things differently than what we are use to I'm cool with it especially with the results that they are getting heck its only 3 bands in the swac competing with txsu and thats su jstate and pvamu. and the kicker about it is that we still growing and getting better and progressing while those programs are at their limits as far as growth goes we still got a lot of growth left. the ocean will probably be the top band in the swac if not next year but probably in 2 years

  • HAVE NO FEAR , HELP IS THE WAY ! WHAT TIME IS IT ???
  • And those sections didn’t take away from the quality of their sound, Ocean will blow the baritones as if they are trying to prove they have power rather than just playing the music. As far as the Drummajors, almost every game you can tell they allow them to do whatever they want and the recipes are  on YouTube to show the lack of leadership. Ocean isn’t keeping up with those bands you named when it comes to matching the quality of sound, simply because of overblowing and obviously overpreparing for SU. The band is growing but PV SU and JSU have a sound that Ocean wasn’t touch last year. It’s always a hit and miss with this band program, however I do hope to see more this upcoming season.
