I'm curious.

Most of the drumlines on the east coast seem to use the Ralph Hardimons.  I have also noticed that several college drumlines use the Johnny Lee Lane Grooves Series.

What are the some of the other sticks that people are using?

If you don't mind, Please list your stick and where you play(ed).

  • Thanks for your response James but can you be more specific.  Both Vic Firth and Pro-Mark make numerous sticks.  I don't know about Silver Fox.

  • I use Vic Firth's Johnny Lee Lane Groove Series sticks.

  • i first started on dc-7's...i remember most of the time i was in HCW i used silver foxes and nylon tipped regals until that place off 59 closed, then i went to dc-9's . my last year at furr we got a box of dc-10's i used those...hated those things...my last year of high school i was at a corps program and ralph's were 'standard'. they are the easiest to find cuz everybody sells them. i think you have to order almost all of those sticks i just listed
  • Please tell me more.

I am interested in hearing how each stick differs from the other.

These are the ones that I have heard about so far.

    Vic Firth
    Ralph Hardimon's - wood & nylon tip
Groove Series - Johnny Lee Lane's
    MS-5
    Thom Hannum

    Pro-Mark
    DC1, DC7, DC9, DC10
    Dennis Delucia's

    Silver Foxes

    Regal TipQuantum 9000 nylon tip3

    Innovative Percussion
Field Series' Shane Gwaltney FSSG Marching Snare Drumstick

With such a variety of sticks what are the basic ones that a company should absolutely keep on the shelves (other than the Ralph Hardimon's?)
