  • Add more intense technique with the dancing dolls and bring the number down to 9.

  • Pick two year captains, make them practice a lot so they could be in sync, design epic uniforms, set rules and cut the number to 10
  • Cool! I shared some of this when I posted about the Foxes (I'm a PV alumnus)  earlier last season, but here goes:

    • I would definitely emphasize classical training, to ensure the majority of my girls could go into mostly any arena of dance with ease.
    • We would take team trips to NYC to take classes and also see dance performances.
    • Bring in guest teachers to hold master classes/workshops
    • Cultivate a strong alumni base that is active even after graduation (scholarships, opportunities and strong mentor system)
    • Super strong, classy social media presence to promote the brand
    • Strict hair and makeup guidelines (no long ratchet weaves during the season, must be flawless and no longer than shoulder or a couple inches longer)
    • Fan apparel and dancewear to sell to fund raise for team
    • Open practices during off season to keep vets on their toes and see the talent out there (in addition to clinics)
    • Out of state recruitment and workshops in strategic places or at HBCU fairs to get dancers from up north and the west
    • Aggressively seek performance opportunities that will elevate the team brand

    The list goes on....

  • Lmao that car wash uniform catches a lot of heat

Very interesting topic. I’m mostly a fan of the Dolls, J- Settes, & Motion (my alma mater). I have recently become a fan of the Stings as well, just not familiar enough with them to make any recommendations for change with the team. I’ll try to keep each squad under 5 lol.

    DOLLS:

    1. Make the standard number for the squad 9 each season. It has always been the perfect # for the team for me. Relatively large yet has the exclusivity and pushes hopefuls to work hard at auditions.
    2. Require weaves to be no longer than 2 inches than your natural length. This one is a shame but certain weaves have been looking an unrealistic disaster.
    3. Nude jazz shoes for the FIELD ONLY.
    4. Push for more longevity. As of late, we rarely see 4 year Dolls. Select actual classified freshman as crabs for better potential 4 years Dolls.
    5. More veteran heavy squad. Vets should always outnumber crabs. They’ve been doing pretty well with this lately.
    6. Incorporate more of that Traci Prince flare on the field.

    MOTION:

    1. COMPLETE REFORM! From uniforms, overall aesthetic, stand presence, field presence, form, etc.
    2. Jermani is currently coaching a high school team however, I would see to it that either she and or Trecia return and spend an INTENSIVE few weeks with the squad to promote the classic Motion style we once knew.
    3. Decrease the number to 12 or under. I’ve seen more dead weight on this squad in the last 5 years than I ever have. 05, 06, 07, & even 08, there was no such thing as the “weak link” of the team. Everyone was a heavy hitter.
    4. Get more alumni involved with the current squad.

J-SETTES (not many changes)- Disallow the “car wash” costume to EVER grace a bleacher or football field.

What would you do if you were Sponsor?
Inspired by the other fun post here in the forums, I thought it would be interesting to see what you would change, implement or keep the same if you…
  • On my first day as Sponsor, I would say "Good Morning, Ladies from this day forward, there will be no rolling around on the ground, your hair/head CAN NOT touch the ground. Young ladies don't roll around on the ground like tumbleweed, it's unladylike."!

  • Come on Bridgette 1986 Doll and former sponsor.
