Recording a parade band is different from recording a band that is in the stand

And whats up with the sloppiness at the front of the ranks when the horns are down... mofos lookin around and shit and smiling... undisciplined as hell. I don't understand though... to be the arguably TOP DRILLING band in the nation yet look so SLOPPY in a parade...

I'm sorry but it is as it is. Bones looks sloppy when their horns are down [2 dudes on the left side {around 7-13 seconds} of the camera with their horn UP everyone else had DOWN and dude at 50 seconds looking back because some trumpet hit sum note like hes never heard that mess before...]and trumpets sound bad. I like to look at southern as a band that sounds great taped from at least 30 yards away... Yall are just too loud for most cameras [not knocking yall in general please don't misunderstand] at that range... although I can understand why it was taped this way [and because Book explained that already]
Don't be too quick to judge me as an SU 'hater' ... I just tell it like it is. When it sounds bad it sounds BAD... if it sounds good it sounds GOOD... simple as that.
Every band has its flaws and mistakes and I'm just pointing this one out.

Not being rude or butting in anyone business but, it just sounds bad because book was trying to get good footage from a bad area. But those trumpets got to fix their part. They are not all in sync. Other than that it's a nice arrangement.
Yeah it doesn't sound good on the footage but this footage really is no different than when BET and NBC use to film bands with the sound coming from a camera right up on instruments. The camera is just too close. Back up about 5-10 yards and i promise you the sound is different.
