  • Baker High School 1930-2006- After being an excellent corp-style band for 60+ plus years, this band made the switch to showstyle in the 1999-2000 season. From year one they were busting everyone's tails on the field and in the stands. Every BOTB this band would march 64 on the field, and still compete and win the large band division against bands with 96, 128, and 150 members. This band had a well-balanced, powerful sound and a very challenging and diverse book that just could not be matched, and this band never backed down from a battle. If the marching accomplishments weren't enough, the concert band also always made Superior ratings at district and state festival, and sent several musicians off to college band programs.

Washington-Marion Magnet High School- Were excellent competition for us at the competitions, and also had a good concert band. That 2001 playoff game and 2003 BOTB battle were classics.

Willowridge High School- does a great job with marching and concert band. They sent a lot of good musicians to SU.

St. Amant High School- this school's wind symphony is on a collegiate level!!!!
  • Fair Park H.S. Shreveport, Louisiana under the direction of Mr. Cleveland R. White. 30 years of 1 place in Botbs to lmea festival. Caddo Parish school board wanted to take the marching style away an change them to cop style. only one black band had to make 1's so all black bands could keep they style. an Fair Park did that. with them its all ways more than just band.
my band i was apart of. way more later
  • WestWood out of Memphis, Tenn. Crazy Trumpets come to mind. First band i battled an heard them hitting GRANDS. They all ways travel to good places to show off their band. Rose Bowl Parade an such. no matter 300 or 12 they come HARD.

    WhiteHaven Memphis,Tenn. enuff said.
  • willowridge has proven themselves to be great

Al dont sell your self short im extra proud of how you have brought davis fron no band to showband...

Worthing does a great job as well
  • Willowridge- I grew up somewhat watching this band since around 99-00? and since then their shows have been off the chain then once went to a concert of theirs and was blown away by how they played. I thought i was sitting in on a college band. This band has NEVER disappointed me. and probably the one band to have an easy transition from show to corps back to show styles and do both with PRIDE

St. Aug- First time i saw this band was when they came to Houston in 2004 for the MLK BOTB at Robertson Stadium....I will never forget that drill to EWF In The Stone. as most directors say, the first note sets the tone for the show...they set their tone so high that it was insane. their drills was precise, their sound was unique. I have not seen their concert or jazz bands in person but im sure they are even better!

Worthing- Though this is literally a small band, Worthing is my favorite small band. Their shows always on point, earned every title they got and one thing i love about this band, they always use Them Basses March in a battle lol. When they played it on us 2 years ago along the sea wall, I literally wanted to clap because I rarely see a Houston Show Band battle with a MARCH. When they play Them Basses, and the band they are battling can't back it up with somethign as difficult, it shows how far Worthing has come along these past few years. Would love to see their spring bands.

Townview- I have seen this band only twice, and both times was at MLK in Houston. an Excellent Balenced sound, probably the only powerhouse left in Texas since the drop in both Houston and Dallas. I love how they will use pit/rythem sections in their shows. very very very unique drills and always live up a stadium. Jazz band is on point!!

BMT Central....I have seen this band many times..2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, Each time i see them, i know thye have a strong sound but their drilling is excellent, between them and St. Aug, they both put on drills as precise as any 2 step drills you would see a College band use. I respect their Director Mr. Collins for taking this award winning band and getting them the right exposure as much as possible and keeping these young musicians in a productive program as well as what he did with the young man on snare drum a few years ago.
  • THANKS MAN IM TRYING VERY HARD HERE AT DAVIS.. AND I ONLY HOPE THAT EVERYBODY TRYS JUST AS HARD.. BECAUSE DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE DAY THAT THE MARCHING BANDS IN HISD FALL OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH.. GOD BLESS KAT

    Sound
    Best Discipline
  • Hey Big-Al. Gotta say, that guy you are referring to with Washington-Marion is actually myself, Eddie Rideau. I was on staff there Fall 2000-Spring 2005. Preciate it though man!
  • where you in Fair Park's band around 1994-1995? They use to come to Lake Charles and take first place at WM botb's during those years. Had a cold blooded announcer, if i'm not mistaken he passed away.
