Why aren't D2 football programs considered as good as D1 football programs?

If u don't have money, you can't recruit the best players, and u can't promise exposure like the bigger ones can. Like RJ said, its an opinion. Most kids just go off hype and fall into what everyone says about a program, without looking at them themselves or actually saying how they really feel about them so they wouldn't be called lame or stupid..... but i digress.... it a long debated topic that could go on for days...

I think some programs are built up on their hype. But there are some that are really great and have an awesome program. But the one thing a program must have is a will to be perfect. By striving for perfection, you will always be successful. But you have to work hard along the way.
Technically, you have to define "good". I think ALL bands are good at something. But to be good LIKE another band really says nothing about your band. I mean why would ALL bands want to be good LIKE the 3 you mentioned. I went to PV, and to this day, I get offended when my band gets grouped with another band like that.
"If you close your eyes, PV sounds like such n such band..."
"PV reminds me of such n such band..."
"PV kinda looks like such n such band..."
That pisses me off to no end...even if it's meant to be a compliment.
Anyway...to expound on your question....
University (Administrative) Support plays a vital role in the success of a University Band. If the Prez. is against the band, that band WILL struggle...REGARDLESS of its name.
Hell it this was the case we would be untouchable. Recruitment is good at Grambling because we pay well with scholarships and out of state fee waivers. Direction? Alumni Support, we have hella of Alumni Support, Our History is unmatched, and we have pride.
